The claim that a “law to separate families” was enacted prior to April 2018 and the federal government is powerless not to enforce it is false. President Bill Clinton passed a law in 1996 that separated children from adults illegally entering the U. S., which President Barack Obama enforced throughout his entire presidency. However, there has been no law that mandates separating children from parents who cross the border illegally. In 1997, Democrat President Bill Clinton signed the Flores law, which the White House and prominent Republicans in Congress cited as a 1997 court settlement to justify separating migrant children from parents who illegally enter the United.
The US government is separating families who seek asylum in the US by crossing the border illegally. Dozens of parents are being split from their children each day. The decision to charge everyone crossing the border with illegal entry and the decision to charge asylum seekers in 2018 has led to criticism of President Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy and the resulting separation of children from their families. Government policies have forced apart the families of enslaved Africans, Native Americans, Mexican immigrants, and detained Japanese-Americans during World War II.
The Biden administration is asking the public to weigh in on ways the US government can minimize the separation of migrant families. A spike in apprehensions of migrant children crossing the southern U. S. border without a parent or guardian has overwhelmed the systems set up to care for them. There is a lot of blame to share, including President Bill Clinton, alien parents themselves, courts, and immigration policies.

let me get this straight, both Trump and Obama agree that illegal immigration is a problem that should be addressed, Obama might have been more gentle about it (but still had record deportations) and Trump may have been more brash about it (yet has argued he is for legal immigration), however they both shared the same opinion, and yet somehow everyone is still ridiculously divided on this subject? why cant everyone just take a breath, calm down and discuss this rationally, like seriously 2 ways this could have been resolved 1) Obama could have actually DONE these things while it wasn’t being politicized 2) Trump could have said he was CONTINUING or Improving on Obama’s policies to curb illegal immigration, instead of acting like this was the first time someone in govt suggested it (which BTW ended in everyone being triggered in the first place)
All political writers should remember what Walter Lippmann said long ago: “I generalized rashly: That is what kills political writing, this absurd pretense that you are delivering a great utterance. You never do. You are just a puzzled man making notes about what you think. You are not building the Pantheon, then why act like a graven image? You are drawing sketches in the sand which the sea will wash away.’
Lots of immigrants come to America legally or at least on a visa, in other words they are accounted for. For some reason, Mexicans and central Americans seem to feel like they are owed and can do what they want, and the liberals and some Republican presidents, just go along to get along. Tump is at least, putting Americans first on these issues.
Reagan grants amnesty, he’s a saint….Bush grants amnesty, he’s a saint…Obama says he’s going to grant amnesty to immigrants and he’s an incompetent tyrant, hellbent on destroying this country somehow. Where was the outrage when when his predecessors did the exact same thing? I live near the Washington state and Canadian border, we have a large so called “criminal” illegal immigrant population that work on dairy farms and in the berry fields and they’re the most generous, hard-working people I’ve ever had the privilege of working with, language barrier aside. I think once this country stops thinking of them as “criminals” and comes to the realization that they’re people, and our country is not under attack by ms-13 members, some kind of progress can be made.
People will only understand when it’s in there shoes. For those who were born in a country any country not just United States a country that gives you the best ability for you to take care of your family or to become what you dream to be one day should give thanks to God for that. It’s easy to judge but what if you weren’t born in a country that can give you that? Yes you do love your native country will always do but wouldn’t you leave your country to move to another one just JUST to have a chance to be able to give a better life for your children isint that what we do everyday or why we wake up everyday. Even if you don’t have children yet but one day you want to have a family no? Or go to school to become an electrician like you always dreamed ? People think that when immigrants come to this country they came for wealth and power. Since ever the main point is BETTER FUTURE want a chance at it. Yes wealth will come but they just want to be able to have access to a school have a job like you are able, to be able to feed they’re children . After all the same purpose that he has are yours … For a better future for your lives, and just because he was born 2 or 1 thousand miles away or even 200 miles away he shouldn’t have a chance too? Even if he complies with all what he has to do pay taxes don’t comit any crime etc what more do you want from him? To clean toilets? Don’t worry he will do that also because he has a goal and a drive to do it which is for a better life for his family.
This is interesting, Why would anyone on a visa choose to go home? They are not a felon, I would role the dice and overstay my visit thus becoming a citizen. This ensures everyone with a visitors visa becoming a US citizen. Getting a visitors visa = US citizenship 🙂 its a good deal for visitors, however we will just dilute the american economy into oblivion. America will have no culture, standing, values or traditions. The US will become a diluted place with no vision or common values the government and voting taken over by foreigners who have no interest in american values. other than to serve their own purpose.
I wish Trump had run against this ass hole It wasn’t just an election between two people for the white house Trump won 30 out of 50 states, and 2,623 counties, to Clinton’s 20 states or 489 counties. It revealed that Trump, in fact, “receives credit from electoral specialists for expanding the Republican footprint, notably in places that had previously backed Barack Obama,” confirming Trump won 220 counties that had voted for Obama in 2012.
So if you get caught illegally crossing the boarder (crime) you get sent back..if you don’t get caught and lived here for years you get a free pass. so i guess all the citizen criminals who never got caught but have warrants who live good lives went to school, work and raised families should have the warrants dropped.
This is only for two years,so it’s temporary. The bad side is that Republicans can and will allow it to expire because out of spite and because “they don’t give a fuck about us” (tupac shakur quote). But It’s the best the president could within his boundaries of power . These beneficiaries have to worry one year from now. But Mr. President u did enough,so pros to that. I hope to have some authority like that of my own over Mexico years from now.
CNN: “Even though Obama and Trump are saying basically the same thing, there is still a stark difference on their delivery. When Obama said this, he said it with such grace, compassion, and gentleness. However, when Trump said this, he said it with the utmost cruelty and unkind, barbaric nature, unbecoming of a distinguished President.”
