Spotify Family Won’T Function?

4.0 rating based on 161 ratings

Spotify Family is a music streaming package designed for families, allowing up to six members to enjoy Spotify Premium with individual accounts. The plan manager pays for the plan, and members have separate Spotify accounts with Premium features. To join the family plan, users need to be logged into their own Spotify account and receive an invite to their email address. The invite expires when used by another member.

To change plans within the past 12 months, users may see this error if they have changed the plan within the past year. Invited members need to log in to or sign up for their own account to join. Spotify Family works by ensuring that all members are at the same address and ensuring fair usage of the plan. If one of the terms isn’t fulfilled, the plan will be removed.

One of the issues with the Spotify Family plan is that one of the children can’t get the account updated on their mobile phone or the app on their computer. To join the family plan, users need to be living with the plan manager and enter the same address as the plan manager upon joining the plan. The most common reason for this behavior is that your account has already been part of a Duo/Family plan in the past 12 months. If your family members can’t verify the address, they’re removed from the plan and won’t be able to join again.

To be able to listen to music at the same time, all family members need to have their own Spotify account. If they don’t have a Spotify account, they will be removed from the plan and won’t be able to join again. To change the address on your main account to the address format in the Spotify drop-down for other members to search, you must change the address on your main account to the address format in the Spotify drop-down for other members to search.

To invite family members to the family plan, users should create a Spotify account each and then go to Family. The owner of the plan can check this on their account page under Premium Family. If you have a previous plan or account with an active plan, it might be the reason you cannot join a premium family plan.

How Do I Ensure My Spotify Family Verification Is Valid?

To maintain valid Spotify Family verification, promptly update your address on your account if you change residence to prevent disruption. After moving, family members must enter their full address within 7 days of receiving the verification email. Successful verification keeps the account on Premium Family; failure requires updating the address on the Family plan manager’s page and resending the invitation link.

To add family members, make sure your account is on Spotify, then log in, and manage your subscription. You can only switch plans once every 12 months. The plan manager can add or remove members by going to their Family page under Subscription.

New members must accept an invite, log in, and confirm their address. For Spotify Kids accounts, it’s essential to be the legal guardian.

If an invited member’s address cannot be verified, they will receive an email to confirm their address within a week. It’s crucial that all members enter the same address for inclusion in the plan. In case of missed emails or issues, contact support for assistance with rejoining.

It's vital to keep the plan manager’s address updated to facilitate smooth re-verification and address confirmation without any interruptions. Avoid using a VPN during this process, as it can impact verification.

What Happens If Spotify Family Detects A Different Address?

Spotify Family requires all members to reside at the same address to maintain access to premium features. If a different address is detected during verification, family members may need to re-verify their address, or they risk losing access to the plan. The plan manager can check and update their address on the Family page. If the address doesn't autocomplete during registration, the entire address must be entered to locate it. Members invited to join must input the same address as the plan admin to be successfully added.

If the addresses don’t match, the accounts may be removed from the Family plan. Spotify will send verification emails to those with mismatched addresses, requiring them to confirm their address within seven days to retain access. Failure to confirm could result in losing premium benefits and reverting to the free version. If discrepancies persist, the plan manager should update the address and send new invites.

Users should ensure that all family members are at the same address during verification; otherwise, they will be notified to update their details or risk being excluded from the plan. If someone is away and not at the home address, verification may fail, leading to removal from the Family plan. Proper address entry is crucial to prevent access issues.
