Apple’s new iOS 17 feature allows users to share AirTags with up to five borrowers using the Find My app. This feature allows users to easily share AirTags with other users, even outside of an Apple Family Sharing group. To share an AirTag with a family member or friend on your iPhone or iPad, open the Find My app and tap Items. Tap on the name of the AirTag you want to share and then tap “Share This AirTag”.
AirTag owners can share their AirTags with up to five people, even outside of an Apple Family Sharing group. To do this, go to the Find My app on your iPhone, tap Items, select the item you want to share, click the Info button below Share This AirTag (or Share This Item), tap the name of the AirTag you want to share, and tap Add person (below Share This AirTag). Enter the Apple ID of the person, select the AirTag you wish to share, and tap Add Person > Continue.
To share an AirTag with others, follow these steps:
- Launch the Find My app on your iPhone.
- Navigate to the Items tab and tap on the AirTag you want to share.
- Tap the Add Person button.
- Open the Find My app, go to the Items tab, and select the AirTag.
- Tap “Share This AirTag”.
- Click “Continue” on the popup.
- Add a user account on the Mac for the child.
- Sign into their iCloud account in System Settings.
- Drag up on the window that appears until you see an Add Person button.
- Tap “Add Person” to continue sharing.
- Tap “Share” to continue sharing.
- Tap “Share” again to continue sharing.16
