How To Create A Fan Chart For A Family Tree?

4.0 rating based on 93 ratings

To view and print a fan chart, you need to have a family tree on FamilySearch. org. It is completely free to create an account and start filling out the family tree template. You can use the Fan Chart view in Family Tree to see up to 7 generations of your ancestors all at once, identifying where family lines end. An ancestral fan chart can be designed in either a full circular display or a semi-circular display depending on the number of generations and the amount of birth, marriage, and death information you want included on your ancestor chart.

Using Family Tree Maker and Photoshop, you can make a fan chart that can be printed 24×36, poster size, and can be printed at Costco. FamilySearch converts the information into a PDF file, which you can save to your computer. In this post, you will learn how to print 9 generations of your family tree on a fan chart, which is free and very easy to do.

To create an ancestral fan chart from the information in FamilySearch Family Tree, you can use the horizontal, vertical, fan, and map views to change the layout of your family tree and who or what is displayed. The horizontal view focuses only on direct ancestors, with links to the current person’s spouse and children if you want their fan charts.

You can find your family tree fan chart by going to your family tree on FamilySearch. org and selecting Fan Chart from the menu in the top-left corner. In the top-right portion of the pedigree view, click the name of the current view (Landscape) and then click Fan Chart.

You can customize your family tree chart by selecting a family tree format, style, and printing your creation.

  • Thanks for the inspiration and the download. It is just what I needed. I have found it is just as easy using the snipping tool in Windows on the Family Tree Maker chart. Hit the copy button in the Snipping Tool and then Control V in Photoshop and it pastes it right in. It is easy to resize the boxes as needed.
