4.5 rating based on 197 ratings

Iggy Azalea, an Australian rapper and songwriter, has spoken out about her co-parenting relationship with her son, Onyx, with rapper Playboi Carti. The couple called it quits just four months after their son was born in 2020. Iggy claims she is the only parent to her son and has accused him of not being an active parent.

Azalea started dating American rapper A$AP Rocky in 2011 and confirmed the relationship early next year. She has Aboriginal Australian parents and has been involved in the music industry with her unique style and catchy beats. However, behind every successful artist lies a story of family.

Iggy Azalea claims she gets no help from ex-playboy Carti when it comes to parenting their 4-year-old son, Onyx. She claims she is “very much the only parent” to her son and that she is not co-parenting. In 2020, she welcomed her son, whom she shares with ex-playboy Carti. She even said Carti was so cruel to her she had to cut him off completely.

In an interview with Sony Music Entertainment’s Dinner’s On Me podcast, Jesse Tyler, Iggy Azalea stated that she is a father and that she welcomed Onyx with her ex-boyfriend Playboi Carti, and the former couple coparent the little one. Onyx is so loved by his dad, and Iggy claims she is the only parent to her son.

The rapper confirmed in June that she had welcomed her son, whose father is her ex-boyfriend Playboi Carti, 24. However, shortly after their son was born, the couple tragically parted ways, and there has been some lingering tension between the two.

  • Honest comment: I remember she received a lot of backlash in 2015 and was dubbed “The World’s Most Hated Pop Star” by Cosmopolitan magazine, exactly a year after “Fancy” was a No. 1 hit. Also she was severely ridiculed by hip hop fans especially. T.I. was trying to do damage control, her “Great Escape” arena tour was scrapped due to low ticket sales, her “Pretty Girls” collab with Britney flopped, and even Britney started dissing her — none of it was working in her favor. She was scheduled to come out with a project around that time called “Digital Distortion”– she could have easily talked about the low points of fame, jealousy, hatred by her critics, her upbringing, even her Australian background and make it a lyrical turning point. Even change her image. But instead, she just caved to industry pressure, scrapped the concept and just dropped an EP and an album full of “booty/stripper” club songs. She was just simply not taken seriously. She obviously appears to be much deeper than the “pretty blonde rap chick” persona she portrays. But she never reveals herself to her fans through her music, she just continues to play her one-dimensional role… to her detriment.

  • I have never hated her and always found her to be quite attractive – kind of Fine! Hated seeing Black people hating on her so much. She’s kind of smart with a sharp wit. Still, could be smarter about her career? Like maybe experimenting with different styles of music… You have to have smart business sense to stay relevant and she seems to lack it. I hear she’s moving from L.A. to Atlanta. Guess she couldn’t land a rich enough celebrity boyfriend or athlete.

  • I was never into her but I did always hope for the best when it came to her. It never bothered me that she’s white; I saw some comments a while back talking about that. Ironically, Eminem is white and I believe he’s a legend. Hope she has a big comeback and is successful. She does need to grow up, though, and not beef with people, imo.

  • She didn’t ruin her own career. People made her ashamed and bullied her since the beginning. A lot of people told her being a “white pretty girl” wouldn’t have anything to do with being a rapper. People underrated her, made her feel bad, criticized, talked shit. Some people also stopped her on the street to tell her quit music. She’s just tired of trying to prove she’s talented. She’s just done with this shit.

  • I have loved Iggy since Beat Down. However Nicki is still at the top of my list. Then Iggy, Stefflon Don, Kelis, Lil Debbie, Coely, Leikeli47, Lil Kim, Trina, Missy Elliot, Left Eye (R.I.P),AMY MIYÚ, Dej Loaf, Bhad Bahbie, Several yet to be discovered by Lady Bee, my cat Gable, my cat Eleanor, Azaleia Banks (with the exception of 212)and then lastly Cardi B

  • best example for lots of JELOUSSY people which try to give “Iggy Azalea” negative Vibes which influence her music. I am not usually a Hip Hopper n it isnt my favourite Genre. But today i ve listened for the 1st time to her song kream. After that I ve directly bought the LP “The New Classic” and the “A Reclass” @ Amazon. She remembers me @ Lady Gaga or David Guetta with all her corparations with some Big Stars of the Genre. I watched some Vids of her as already said. Hell yeah she is a white Chick with damn hot attitude and she looks freaking stunning. Too bad so many idiot rumors going around. But she never gives up it seems and always find her way back so keep it up good work.

  • Dude literally EVERYONE hates Iggy no matter what she does. When Iggy was talking about Britney’s conservatorship in a way that wouldn’t get her sued by Britney’s dad, people just straight up canceled her and called her a hater. Now people are mad shes not speaking on the conservatorship even though she legally can’t cause Britney’s dad FORCED HER TO SIGN AN NDA. She legit can’t win.

  • I never understand why haters take the time to judge & comment hateful opinions?! I don’t waste typing on someone I don’t listen to? Just like every other female rapper, it’s about inspiration. They might copy some things to a point, but that’s a compliment to another artist. Some see talent, some don’t. Some see color. Give who u like views & let her do her thing! She does it good & still got ur attention!

  • Don’t give up Iggy! keep Pushing, the Best is yet to Come…Block out Negatively, forget what the haters say, Don’t look back, Look forward to your Future, Don’t GIVE UP, You have great talented In music, all your songs are jammin, You keep making Hits after Hits…Dont let nothing stop you, cause your Successful in life… You have great Accomplishments, you not we’re you use to be, And that’s a good thing, Stay Strong and don’t let nothing hold you back

  • Even musicians who do not get distracted by “celeb life”, (big media hookups, breakups, twitter feuds, self-inflicted instagram scandals, etc.) usually can’t put out a new album every single month. And then there’s touring. So, in the year or two between albums, after the excitement fades, “THEIR CAREER IS OVER” until the next album is finally done. Then “THEY’VE MADE A COMEBACK”. If anyone bothers to look back, say, ten years from now, I don’t think they’ll find the ups and downs of Iggy Azalea’s moment-to-moment popularity to be any different from any other pop star, male or female, white or black or any other color, tall or short, or of whatever butt size.

  • Her ex trying to sell a sex tape and Azealia Bankless coming for her shouldn’t be held against Iggy, especially when you can google any day of the year with Azealia’s name and you can find a different feud she’s had over the years. The thing with Britney shouldn’t have been enough to kill a career and Digital Distortion being cancelled was justified. What killed Iggy’s career were her infamous freestyle article, poor management and artists systematically bullying her out of the industry. It started with Azealia and then others jumped on the bandwagon, Nikki especially hurt her career a lot. Being white shouldn’t be an issue in her case when white and other non-black rappers like Post Malone, G Eazy, Machine Gun Kelly, Macklemore, Lil Pump and 6ix9ine get zero backlash. Hell the last two say the N word like it means nothing, despite them not being black.

  • I gotta admit that a lot of black rappers hate on white people about them ‘taking over THEIR culture.’ I do not think that this is true. YES, there are more white rappers now and YES a white rapper is considered to be the best rapper of all time, BUT it is simply false to say that they are taking over. There are WAY more black rappers than there are white and I would never identify white rappers rising as a bad thing, since if they understand and cherish the roots of this culture they are doing it right. No culture should be stagnant. It should evolve and grow. I myself grew up with ONLY ‘black’ music in my household. I grew up with Jazz, Soul and Funk and now I am a rapper but I studied the culture. I do not mean that she wasn’t right in her statement, though I would think it should have been more about the music industry giving out the awards. It is not the rappers fault to be nominated. Azalea’s reaction on twitter was SHIT though.

  • It always cracks me up people saying she needs to be genuine and faking an accent ……that shit was produced by T.I. you really think he didn’t know she was putting on an accent and signed off on it? Then when people complained he distanced himself from it like “nothing to do with me!!!!”. He’s stank.

  • Hi, my name is David. Sorry. I know that you don’t know me and we have never met before, but I would love to tell you that I love Iggy Azalea to death. She’s extremely beautiful. I have been loving Iggy Azalea since 2011 until now. I’m planning to marry Iggy Azalea in the future. I’m also planning to move to California to start my acting, since I have always wanted to work in movies and hopefully I can meet Iggy Azalea one day. I love Iggy Azalea to death that I’m willing to give up my whole entire life for her. She’s the most world’s beautiful woman I have ever seen in my whole entire life. I sure would love to live with her in her beautiful house and I sure would love to have a beautiful daughter with her. We might name our beautiful daughter, Amethyst just like Iggy Azalea’s first name. Once I’m married to Iggy Azalea, I would be extremely relieved that I have never been that relieved in my whole entire life. I have always wanted to marry Iggy Azalea since 2011. That was the year when she became a rapper. My beautiful future wife! Are you in contact with Iggy Azalea or do you know anyone who is in contact with Iggy Azalea? If yeah, please let me know. I would really appreciate it. This is a huge and gigantic favor for me. It would mean a lot to me. I seriously wish that I’m married to Iggy Azalea right now with us having a beautiful daughter together. Iggy Azalea is inside my brain all day everyday 24/7. I can’t quit thinking about her. I’m extremely sad and lonely that I’m not with Iggy Azalea or Iggy Azalea is not with me.

  • If she was at all smart, she’d do a concert all about the breakup, with dancers and lights and whatnot showing how you “go through the process of breaking up”. Every woman on this earth would be able to relate to it and it could be a fabulously emotional thing. Emotion is what you want people to feel when you sing. Women would eat this up and buy a bazillion records! That’s business, people.

  • Honestly on the subject of Britney Spears I feel it was rather a miscommunication between the two of them. I love Britney, and honestly in the current world of everyone can/can’t rap I believe that the hatred Iggy is racism towards her skin color. I think that people underestimate what Iggy is really capable of. Not to be mean to Banks but, Iggy won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, I suggest you make you room for the “white chick” cause dang this girl can rap. If anyone here thinks that Iggy is a fake then, you obviously haven’t heard her story of success.

  • Nothing about this explains how she destroyed her own career. Just a woman trying to fight against the usual crap, bullying etc. She speaks her mind, makes her own decisions, god forbid it’s “destroying” her! Make a article about a man destroying his own career the same way. Wait what? No possible! Thought so!

  • Nah she’s fine, she made plenty. And If she was even a tiny bit responsible with her earnings it won’t matter if she ever releases another album or even a successful single. If she was smart about the money then she made enough made enough to live in comfort off the interest she should’ve getting on investments.

  • Lol, she’s doing alright for someone who’s career failed… Either you like her or you don’t. Name one artist who hasn’t had haters hate on them in some way, shape or form. It’s just human nature and it’s just that simple. You can’t please everyone so people just need to give the girl a break, rumors cause havoc and she isn’t hurting anybody.

  • Oh… Don’t forget that she got sued by Adrian Kayne for breaching studio contract and she lost everything. Adrian Kayne is Hollywood’s top music production for the past 20+ years and he has brought in top acts and big bucks. If you don’t play nice in the music scene, one word from Kayne, you’re simply done. That man has killed so many careers in the music industry including Hoobastank, Lit, Mandy Moore, Jennifer Paige, Len, New Radicals, Black Eye Peas, Soulja Boy and yours truly Iggy Azalea

  • The supposed backlash against Iggy Azalea’s cultural appropriation didn’t make a lot of sense to me. At least it was an exaggeration. And I’m surprised Jennifer Hudson’s willingness to work with Iggy Azalea wasn’t taken as more significant. Largely it seemed to be a result of another rant from the utterly vicious Azalea Banks. Militant barely begins to describe the talented Banks. How much of it really had to do with the common element in their names abd Banks always looking to destroy any female she feels threatened by.
