I lost my late wife Lorraine in 2019, I haven’t met anyone that had a heart and faith like hers before or since, and that’s saying a lot considering what a I’ve seen in my life. She was a spiritual titan among mortals. Much of the music I write is heavily inspired by her to this day and the message of this song is spot on!
I lost my husband 6 yrs ago… He died and will never come back. But the emptiness is still here with me.. I feel numb but i need to move one. I’m just going with the flow. But the happiness is not there anymore. Am happy but empty i donno how to describe it but im happy because of my kids but as a person am empty.
It’s hard to get a number It’s hard to get that dance It’s hard to get a girl Into ditching all her friends It’s hard to get that first kiss It’s hard to make one fall It’s hard to get the courage Up to give her dad a call And if all that ain’t hard enough Try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one It’s hard to come home early Them last call home come so late Pride is hard to swallow And sorry is hard to say And taking her for granted Is an easy thing to do And if you want to see the kind of hell A girl can put you through Try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one Try losing one Try missing her every night holding on Barely getting by a love like they It might be hard to find But try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one
I recently lost my fiancé a little over a month ago. I woke up from a nap when we laid down together and she passed away. I woke up and called 911 and tried CPR but she was already gone. I miss her everyday and this song hits so hard for me! I just want to say this song was so on point to how I currently feel and really appreciate it!! As a man, I cry a bit every time I hear it.
I just wanna say this is your best song yet I’ve been perusal this on repeat crying as I’m homeless thinking bout the girl I had I was so in love can’t stop thinking about her every day . After I lost her I threw my life away and gave up now I’m trying to come back love this song man great inspiration 🥺
To be upfront, as someone with C-PTSD this song brought me to tears because this is how it feels when you’ve lashed out and been unable to feel emotions one time too many to the point where you lose even a friend. Not just a boyfriend. Try losing anyone. Anyone. It’s a hell of life to live. But we live, just differently.
I heard this in the car for the first time today and I was moved to tears. Lyrics that will make you ache for those you have lost, and Tyler’s powerful performance is a master class in emotional storytelling. I am, as of today, a huge fan. Thank you for such a moving and meaningful song that so many will relate to.
Every time I hear this song I can’t help but cry. Brings me back to the day I got home from working out of town and everyone and everything was gone house was totally empty. Loved her more than anything but after 14 years together I stopped showing her that no one mattered more to me. It’s been years now and she’s still the woman I dream about.
You have such a powerful voice……it’s as though my loss and struggles are felt though your music, and I feel like I can talk about my pain which i normally only shelter within myself… my ultimate loss was my husband who passed away tragically and finding him and trying to provide first aid to him and my utter devastation at not being able to save him…I was with him since high school and we had 27 years together and it’s been almost 8 years since that day….I relive it on the daily…..I have not moved forward from him as we were bonded together for eternity, why this happened to us is a question I ask myself and I find no answer
This song captured a dark empty space in my soul that a try to forget. It evoked deep emotion. But it was me on the other end that received years of emotional abuse and manipulation. It was me that finally got up enough courage to leave and never look back, not give in to the lines, the I love you’s and I can’t live without you. It was the most magical and painful years of my life. So many nights I cried late into the morning in my dark empty house wondering when my nightmare would end. All these sorrows were mine before they were his. I lost him long before he lost me.
WOW! This song really shook me down to my core. I lost my soul mate, my beautiful wife, the most beautiful girl in the universe 2 years ago as a result of her addiction. I loved that girl more than a thousand men have loved a thousand women. The love and connection we had is usually only read about in fairy tales and love stories. One thing im thankful for is that she got to know what true love feels like. I told her every single day of our lives just what she meant to me, and how much i loved her. We had been together since I was 15, she was 16. Have 5 of the greatest kids anyone could ever hope for. I have to admit, even after 2 years has passed by the pain I feel constantly along with that enormous void now inside me is almost too much to bear at times. I know I need to be strong for my children. They more than deserve nothing but complete and utter dedication and commitment from me. But, knowing that, understanding that, wanting that…………..man is it hard sometimes. I still break down and cry when certain songs come on, when I turn the website and one of her favorite movies or shows are playing, when I look at my daughters who are so much like her not only in their personalities, but they both look so much like her. There are so many occurrences in my life that bring all that pain right up, it can be difficult coping at times. I always told her she was the strong one out of the two of us. I wouldn’t wish this hurt and pain on anyone, ever. I pray everyone out there dealing with a similar circumstance can find some peace, and a renewed feeling of optimism for the future that I haven’t been able to find just yet.
As a woman who recently left a relationship with an addict, this song hits home more than any song. I don’t know if that’s the message behind this song. If it is then I appreciate the perspective. Being in a relationship with an addict is the hardest thing I ever experienced and I’m still hurting from being the one who walked out of that empty house. So many times break up songs are full of anger. However, loving an addict was much more hurtful for me.
I mostly listen to metal, but my taxi driver Tuesday played this song and said I would really like it. He was 100% right. It gave me chills, made me tear up, and think. The emotion Tyler imparts in his tone, his words, the swell and dip of the song…This song is beautiful, sad, tragic, just so good.
This song… It takes a place in my heart that no one can replace. Every time we get in the truck, me and my sisters are like “Can you PLEASE play try losing one?” My mom goes “yes, absolutely!” And then she plays it and we sing the song as loud as we can! One time after we played that song my dad said “That has got to be one of the best songs ever!” So I thank you Tyler Braden, for writing that song and making so many people feel good inside and outside! ❤
Heard this for the first time about a week ago on SiriusXM Radio. I was driving at the time. Or at least I was until the chorus. I just held my breath, then felt my eyes fill with tears. This is incredible. The lyrics are lean, yet so descriptive. And the pain in Tyler’s voice is beyond anything. Simply amazing! Praising God for gifting this man with this kind of talent. Truly, you are speaking for millions, because anyone who has loved and lost has lived this. Very few of us can even put the pain into words, much less set it to music. You nailed it, man.
So… I randomly seen this on my feed and it just hit me… hard… that all the pain I’m holding in and all the anger I feel at the same time … is so personified in this song… I know I did so much wrong and I hurt her in so many ways I couldn’t imagine but I still can’t bring myself to face I’ve lost her because I spent so long doing everything I was afraid of and fought my self so hard to keep myself away from the hurt that I never realized I was losing her and forced her away… 6 years of our lives feel miniscule to what I wanted so badly to build with her and I let myself down because I didn’t lower my walls and didn’t admit to myself I needed help with my past that I lost the person I couldn’t live without…
sitting here listening to this song for the first time its hard a year ago my aunt was murdered 2 days later my mother died from cancer im not even in my 30s yet my dad lost his love of his life and his baby sister in one weekend im trying to find music that will bring him peace for his 60th birthday but its hard seeing old memories of him and my mom trying to mourn the ones lost gets harder every day i feel lost with out them and feel like there will never be a day that i find peace this song means so much to me cause people dont understand the pain i was told to get over it it will get easier it doesnt they havent been in my shoes thank you for this beautiful song touches home
I’ve already wrote something in this thread. But I have to say more. This song goes so deeply into my heart that it pretty much takes a chunk of it out and I sooo identify with this song and the whole situation of this song, that it’s become one of my theme songs. I have no other way to explain or express myself than to say that this song touches me so deeply that it hurts…
I had a friend who lost his wife of 58 years and he said he was really upset that she was taken and he was left behind and he asked God why did you give us only 58 years together. After having time to look at all of their love and all of the good times and the great family they made he changed from why only 58 years to thank you for 58 wonderful years. RIP George.
Tyler this feels like you wrote it just for me and my life! I have recently found myself divorced from the love of my life! I don’t want to go to my house I am lost without her. I have started drinking more and I don’t and can’t sleep I have not slept much this has happened. I didn’t really how much I loved her and what she meant to me! Great song! Thank you for this special special song!
“Try losing one” I know that feeling very much… My Mom died 2020 and She was All We Had. My Dad and I. My Mom was my Dad’s Soulmate. Married for more than 50 something years and It’s Hard on Him to lose his only Love but I like to think he’ll be with my Mama someday up in Heaven. Beautiful Song❤️ and I am so very Sorry for All of Your Lost Loved Ones. May You See Them Again!
This song just makes me wanna drop to my knees at times..other times I get angry. Sometimes I just cry. Other times I just sit and do nothing but miss her so damn bad. Audrieanna I will always love you. Jan.1 2022 was one of the best days of my life . 9 days later I lost you. I promise to find you in another life .
it’s different when you’re the one being potentially lost. i haven’t had the easiest of times recently, and definitely imagined escaping my mind by not living would be so much easier. Though, my dad showed me song recently. It took everything in me not to break down. Despite what you are going through, you are loved.
This song definitely hits another level. I lost my fiancé 3 months ago and my little girl. I loved them both so much. I still see my little girl. But it hurts so much when I see my ex. She always acts like she’s not hurting but tells everyone she misses me. Knowing you’ll never get your family back hurts when it feels so close to happening. So many memories made. Now all she is is a memory.
My son lost his girlfriend/wife recently and this is a song he relates to and so do I. I wish he could meet Tyler in person and so do I as all of us do, his songs are so powerful and relates to a lot of us, he is just an awesome and relating person to real life in his songs . This is one song I love so much. Thank you so much Tyler for sharing.
I first heard this & it floored me‼️‼️ Lost my husband to sudden death, best friend & reminds me so of Try living without him once your name is called. I still walk on this house we made a home. Cherish everything cause we’re only here fora visit. Ive shared this on fb before to help people realize its not going to last forever & if people dont get it they r blind! We were together since 1981.. thought we’d have eachother forever. 15 years now blows me away. No one like him. Im still single of my choice. Dated… nothing but creeps out there
I’ve recently had a ectopic pregnancy. It ruptured and I almost died because of it. On top of losing my child, almost my life, my right tube . 7 months later and time has only been worse . Late this month early October when he or she would have been born . I picked names out I go day by day but can’t seem to get out of this hell. I’ve always been told I can’t have children and boom my miracle. Just to be taken from me and now seems impossible. This song helps cause I have to remember crying isn’t a weakness but a step to healing . Thank you for this song some of us turn to music for an escape or to feel .
I dedicate this song to me. After 8 years and a daughter with a man who made me run from him scared of and for my life one night. I know that man misses me, our family, our home, and that he regrets what happened. Alcoholism mixed with untreated PTSD is just a recipe for wreckage. I wish nothing but healing and closure for anyone battling a demon that has its claws in them that makes you lash out at those who love you and I’m especially sorry about the way it all makes you self-destruct.
You’ve become one of my favorite artist over the last few months! Listened to you a few times while out riding the Harley in the country and came across you on YouTube…been listening every since and you just continue to become so impressive! I love your “home town” type feel to your music! Keep it all coming! You’re one talented cookie!
PRE-Covid, Middle Covid, and POST Covid, screwed a lot of relationships up. For me it drove a big wedge in between, my relationship with my wife, which led to a nasty separation and an uphill battle to say the least. But Braden created hope and change in my life to try to mend what was broken between my wife and I. “It is what you do with PAIN that determines what it becomes.” and it’s been a constant work in progress to fix what has been broken between us for so long. In my eyes, she’s worth it. Everyone wants me to leave her, but no one sees the battles I’ve had to face alone to keep things alive between her and I. This song has described every part of my life except for the whisky, so instead of saying whisky, I replace it with TEARS. Try staring at a wall pouring tears out. My new favorite song as it reminds me of the person I have to become to never have to feel what it’s like walking through a door of an empty house (LITERALLY) knowing I let her down. It’s why I finally launched my website, with hopes of never settling for rock bottom again.
THIS. Incredible… My 8 month old’s life was taken, and there has never been anything as hard as every moment since. Try holding him as he passes in your arms. Try walking out of the hospital empty handed. Try walking in home’s door. Try existing with such PTSD as everyone’s life continues on. I could write thousands of these, thank you for writing a song that resonates so much with mine & others souls. Thank you…
So sorry for your loss. We have been going through the cancer roller coaster with my son since 8-27-21 still not in the clear, he is 13 now and so strong. Just found out last week my Amazing mother in law has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I hate cancer so much but God has things in his hands. Keep your faith brother. Prayers for you and your family🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I miss my soulmate 😞 My Ex-Husband played me this song recently and he’s always been such a hopeless romantic and we had a love that was unbreakable, so I thought. I was young when I met him and didn’t realize what I had until it was gone. He was such an amazing man. One you see in movies but don’t think there’s such thing in real life. He was that one. A small town country boy: Romantic, gentle, handsome, hard worker, amazing provider, great father, so kind, so loving, made me feel like the world stopped when I was around. Always played and sang me country songs…. I was on a pedestal 24/7. He was everything a women could want and more but I was too blind to see it. Every gf I had wished they could find someone like him, they thought I was the luckiest women in the world… well I ended up leaving him and we divorced. We met in 06 married in 07 divorced 5 years later and now it’s 2023 and we are still friends and I fight w myself daily because I wanted another chance (we did try again but he just couldn’t get over the hurt I caused him) yet he still says he loves me and when he drinks he gets all in his feelings to me but when sober he pretends like he doesn’t love me anymore. It’s like he drinks to fight those feelings and numb himself. I miss him I love him and him sending me this song not too long ago, makes me bawl my eyes out listening to the words and knowing this song reminds him of me. I wish he wouldn’t fight it anymore. It kills me. Also, his mother doesn’t like me and he doesn’t want her angry w him again for being w me so he said he’d rather keep the peace.
This song really gives me goosebumps and always makes me think about my ex. I caused her so much hurt and pain and completely messed things up. I’ve changed so much since we split up and just wish she could see the changes I’ve made and let me treat her like she deserves to be. I lost my family over how I acted and actually deserved to lose them but I want my best friend and sole mate back because I truly love her and care soo much and I know her value so would never make them mistakes again. When I’m with her I just forget everything that’s going on in my life and just feel so happy.
The only light I see when I’m in these moments are small, but they are visible pieces of Hope I can still see. Whether that’s karma, or mercy from God(s). I know God can and will make weak things become strong. I know my hell that I helped create, and was acted upon me 😣, those are a weak things that I want to become my Strength. Sometimes I recognize where I gained strength and other times I fall into a victim mentality and I don’t progress. Realizing my victim mentality is something I’ve built up as my defense mechanism, so I don’t hurt anymore. Sometimes it’s just too much. And I have always felt that extra strength when I needed it. Whether I recognized it immediately, or recognized it later, Thank God that it comes! So many times that I could have ended it, and one time that should have ended it. I am forever grateful. I want the hurting to stop so I still try to; keep calm and carry on, and I recognize any help that gives me hope and the strength gains that I get blessed with. Brighter days always come. 🤟
This song hits HARD! Wife told me on June 13th that she is leaving me after 24 years of being together. I love her so much but took her for granted. I dont know how to handle this but not doing well. It hurts so bad. Keep playing this song over and over. @TylerBraden is an amazing musician and nailed it with this song. Heather…I love you so much and I am so sorry for not showing you that nearly as much as I should have.
Well, like so many others on here – first time hearing this song and this artist. Can’t even express how beautiful this is nor the way it touches me!!!! Lost my wife of 17 years, the absolute love of my life, due to my complacency. You nailed my life with this song. Thank you for your great gift to music!!!!!
My girl and I live far from one another. An ocean seperates us. Literally. I send her messages all the time about what she means to me and why. 7 hour time difference, her midnight is my 5 o’clock. She calls at 11 her time everyday, I take an hour off the end of my work day and then go back to work and make up that hour. People ask me why I would bother and she should just deal with my schedule but she’s gotta be up at 5am. I tell her what she means to me and take that hour to hear her voice because I don’t ever want to sing this song.
My wife died November 6th 2021. 40 years in my life. 21 married. My twinflame. She’s still in my dreams hugging me and telling me . Her death made it possible for me to grow. Making my soul complete. But life wouldn’t be life so I almost didn’t survive this intense way of grief. I almost died because I couldn’t handle it anymore. Police and ambulance staff in the house. I survived. And my daughter send me this song while I was in the hospital. Special thanks I send to a woman who was all the time with me on the phone. Calling whit me and 112 Thanks to my wife who is always with me and saved me by sending me a red hearth. Thanks to my children who understand and love me. And of course you JnJ a gift as well. And thanks to one special Girl ! A woman who saved me as well. Keeping me still here till the job is done. I love her In a very special way. Yes you E. R
I made the biggest mistake of my life. I lied about stupid pointless things to the love of my life, just to what I thought was making myself look better. When all she cared about was me from the start. Now I’m loosing her. I broke her heart. Hope and pray that she’ll come back, but I don’t think she will.
It’s hard to get a number It’s hard to get that dance It’s hard to talk a girl Into ditching all her friends It’s hard to get that first kiss It’s hard to make one fall It’s hard to get the courage Up to give her dad a call And if all that ain’t hard enough Try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one It’s hard to come home early Them last call home come so late Pride is hard to swallow And sorry is hard to say And taking her for granted Is an easy thing to do And if you wanna see the kind of hell A girl can put you through Try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one Try losing one Try missing her every night holding on Barely getting by a love like they It might be hard to find But try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one Try losing one
Lyrics. For those who care- what the signings singer. Here’s what he says.. icare. ✌🏼 It’s hard to get a number It’s hard to get that dance It’s hard to get a girl Into ditching all her friends It’s hard to get that first kiss It’s hard to make one fall It’s hard to get the courage Up to give her dad a call And if all that ain’t hard enough Try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one It’s hard to come home early Them last call home come so late Pride is hard to swallow And sorry is hard to say And taking her for granted Is an easy thing to do And if you want to see the kind of hell A girl can put you through Try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one Try losing one Try missing her every night holding on Barely getting by a love like they It might be hard to find But try losing one Try walking through the door of an empty house Try staring at the wall pouring whiskey out Try living with knowing that you let her down Try trying like hell not to think about That hurt in her eyes as she turned around If you think finding a girl you can’t live without Is the hardest thing you’ve ever done Try losing one Try losing one
I wished I knew a love like that. Thought I had it until I got my right leg ripped off by a horse. Since then I have become this hopping, useless, always in the way, person to him. He says I’m an embarrassment to him. My God it hurts so bad and I do not think love really exists like it does in this song. If after 16 years you can become nothing because of an accident how can true love even be a real thing ?
Just what I needed to hear. I nearly lost the love of my life over me being dumb, and was fortunate enough to have earned her back, and keep pushing to be better, and this was almost me just a few months ago. I can’t imagine life without her. She is truly my best friend, and the one person I can’t do without.
Driving home from the store with SXM on. First time hearing this song and i Feel like I got punched in the gut. Couldn’t stop the tears after that lyric ” try living with knowing you let her down…” Every day for almost 5 years I have spent trying to win back my wife and make up for the husband I used to be. It’s so easy to take the ones we love for granted.
I’m on day 4 of separation with my wife. I haven’t lost her yet but it feels like 60 percent of me is gone. My advise to the guys out there who haven’t lost her yet put your ego to the side and listen to her before it’s to late. Tell her everyday you love her do things she likes keep thst flame burning but don’t be over bearing. Trust me we’ve been together for almost 21 years and I can’t eat I can’t sleep my heart beets wrong now blood pressure is 183/105 all the time now since she asked me to move out. I just hope it’s not to late to rekindle that fire.
I lost the love of my life…. She was my surprise at every turn that made me sit back a feel a feeling that i didnt need anything else. It was the room full of ballons i had to go through to find our inside jokes. I to this day cant believe i lost her. I havent heard a song this powerful in a long time. Love it……
can’t say losing one is a situation ive ever found myself in, but ‘try never telling her because you didnt have the balls to’ is definitely a line i would add to this song, that situation i definitely understand, i know its really f*****g hard to do but if you ever find ‘the one’ just grow a pair and tell them, telling her and knowing how she feels one way or the other is way easier than never knowing.
This is the most powerful song I’ve heard it really makes me think about the current relationship I am in now and how I’ve hurt her In the beginning of our relationship. I regret it everyday the hurt I caused her that’s something I will never forgive myself for the hurt and distrust I caused we’ve been together for two years and I am still trying to build the trust with myself to never hurt her again 😭😔🥺
He took me for granted. Made selfish decisions that cost us our family together. He refuses to make the changes to be a better man but will not let me go. He’s who my heart desires. I want to spend my whole life with him but i need respect, dedication, him to stop taking me for granted and honesty. Its been a month and he’s finally regretting his choices but still not making the changes. 😢
I have learned this life lesson the hard way. I lost everything. The road is long as well as cold in many places. I live with the pain I caused and made a commitment to never walk that path again. However it hurt the ones I loved the most. One day I hope to have their forgiveness. For now I just try to be the best me and do my best never to cause another tear. This song cut deep but is so true.
