Will A Family’S Cell Phone Be Compatible With The At&T Network?

4.5 rating based on 167 ratings

Walmart Family Mobile, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), offers discount cell phone plans using another company’s network. Launched in 2010, it was powered by T-Mobile but was acquired by Verizon Wireless in November 2021. The company now uses a nationwide 5G network and covers 2-5 lines, including unlimited talk and text to the U. S./Canada/Mexico, as well as access to 5G and LTE networks.

To switch plans, customers must ensure their phone uses GSM technology, unlock it, and confirm compatibility with a new plan. AT and T offers the best option for families, offering an Unlimited Extra plan that costs $164 per month for four lines and hotspot data when traveling in Mexico and Canada.

For those looking to save money and switch plans, Walmart Family Mobile has resources like the PhoneReady Quiz and a selection of kid-friendly phones, tablets, and phones. With AT and T, customers can find a family plan that fits their budget and needs. However, prepaid AT and T phones will not work with Walmart Family Mobile plans, as they operate on T-Mobile’s nationwide 4G/LTE network.

To check if your phone is compatible with AT and T’s network, visit AT and T’s website and provide your phone’s IMEI number. If your plan is served on a network other than Verizon’s, you will need to unlock the phone for it to work. In Walmart Family Mobile’s case, the T-Mobile network is used for coverage.

In most cases, your current GSM-compatible smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch will easily connect to AT and T’s network, allowing you to keep your device you love. AT and T Secure Family is a family safety app that helps keep family members connected and safe in both digital and physical worlds.

  • Hey Max, I just wanted to ask about what you said at 1:20 . Are you sure that it is unlimited priority data? I went to the total by Verizon website and under the Unlimited Data Section, it states that “In times of traffic, your data may be temporarily slower than other traffic. On the Unlimited Plan, article streams at up to 480p”. This pretty clearly says that it’s not premium/priority data. Just deprioritized high speed data.
