I was a fiber splicer for a cable company for about 6 years. During that stint, this episode came out and never laughed so hard in my life. Showed this scene to my co-workers and they’re all saying, “yep, that’s our boss” Ever since we all watched that episode, whenever we got paired up together or with the guys in the bucket trucks, we would jokingly talk like these people in the episode and rub our nipples while we were splicing. Eventually though, I moved on to power lineworking.
I used to work for AT&T and this is exactly how they did business, they practically instructed us to fool the client into getting the service and then when they called back saying the service was not what they were promised we would say:”well it looks like you agreed to the terms and conditions before signing the contract, did you read the contract?” and that was it. That job sucked
The elaborate portrayal of cable employees’ self and mutual nipple massage, done in delight over cable customers’ anguish and frustration over anything the company does, and including shirts with custom velcro-closing flaps for rapid nipple access, is something so weird that ONLY Stone/Parker could have thought of it. However probably due to legal issues they had to change it to just “cable” with the logo. Now that I’m 23 I legit never missed tv and I find it a joke that people still pay for it. The future is streaming but how you gotta pay each month for those specific apps like Netflix, hulu Disney+ etc etc. Still it’s cheaper and a lot better than tv since you don’t have to stress ads and can actually watch the stuff you care about. Ever since getting cable when it first came out. Part of having that service for me was spending time on the phone with them. Either for a problem I was having or to talk about the bill constantly going up as the ” Promotions” Started to come to an end. Here I am decades later still making the same calls. I have been through different companies in different states as I moved over the years no difference.
I actually got fed up with the streaming services and went back to cable. between not being able to remember what series was on what service, having to remember passwords and re-login anytime I changed a device, and having to update 10 different apps. And paying for all the streaming services was almost as expensive if not as expensive as cable TV.
I used to live in a small town with only ONE cable company, and because it was a middle of nowhere hick town, satellite was spotty and arguably worse. ON TOP OF THAT this company was the only one that supplied internet to the whole town, which was very spotty. Both cable and internet was super expensive and very VERY slow. After moving to a city, I now have speeds that only I could’ve dreamed of. And this clip perfectly shows how that experience is for small town entertainment.
Xfinity impressed me by having a technician ready to install the day I moved into my house. I was less impressed when I had to “renew” my annual plan and they decided to increase my plan cost by $10 by axing the lower speed tier I was paying for. I used to have fiber internet for less, but the suburbs suck for internet service.
Streaming services right now are expensive when subscribing to multiple streaming services to watch exclusive shows and movies. You can be paying $780 for 1 year. I did not list the services because YouTube deletes my comments. Also, streaming services can censor content at any event. It is best to buy physical format copies of versions of shows and movies you like.
