Ray Combs, a former host of TV’s “The New Family Feud” game show, committed suicide on June 2, 1996, after trying to commit suicide at least twice. Combs had been struggling with marital problems and recent career setbacks, and had tried to commit suicide at least twice before his death. He was found dead in the psychiatric ward of Glendale Adventist Hospital after weeks of attempts, including banging his head against the wall.

Combs was a comedian who followed Richard Dawson as the host of the game show “Family Feud”. After the network replaced him with the original host, Richard Dawson, the show ended up being canceled less than a year later. Combs took his own life by fashioning a noose from bedsheets, hanging himself in the closet of his room at Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

The identity of the dead man was not revealed, but it was Ray Combs.
