Where In Marquette County Are Teaching Family Homes Located?

Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan is a private, non-profit organization that began as a single residential group home serving six children in 1981. Over the years, it has grown to become the largest private child welfare organization in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The organization operates five residential group homes in Marquette and Newberry, serving youth from the state of Michigan. In-home programs serve thirteen of the fifteen Upper Peninsula communities. Three family-style residential-care homes for troubled youth are Cedar Creek in Marquette, Indian River in Manistique, and Cedar Creek in Manistique.

Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan is a leader in the treatment and care of troubled boys and girls throughout Michigan through its development of programs to meet the ever-changing needs of these children and their families. The organization provides residential care and support services for children and families in need, with a focus on education. The United Way of Marquette County has entered its 80th year of serving the community, this year partnering with 26 agencies. The facility is Marquette’s only Licensed Assisted Living Community, offering the perfect mix of personal care and hospitality tailored to meet the needs of troubled children and families.

Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan provides a full continuum of care to youth and families by teaching, modeling, and inspiring them to be healthier.
