This is about 50% accurate and 50% what-are-you-talking-about? As a Latter-day Saint, I have never heard that if you are going to get a tattoo, get a religious one. Also never heard don’t wear hoop earrings. Also, a lot of these things don’t just apply to women but to men too. We believe we should be modest in behavior and dress. We should put our families first, whether you’re a man or woman, it may look differently for each family circumstance. We believe in repentance, and that includes confession of serious sins to your bishop. And what is the deal with the picture in the thumbnail?
I left the church 30 years ago so can only speak for those who share my particular ‘church timeline’ from 1965 – 1994. To keep your temple recommend current, members were interviewed yearly by their bishop. This interview is where members confessed any sins…so they could repent…and be worthy to hold a temple recommend, etc. Kids 8 and older also received yearly interviews with the bishop. Imagine being the bishop’s daughter!😬😁 Tithing settlement came every December where each family met with their bishop to prove they’d paid a full 10% of their yearly earnings. Sidenote- as a young girl I wondered why Tithing was included on the monthly Donations Receipt alongside random donations like the missionary fund, etc. Upon leaving the church, pondering the thousands of dollars they’d tricked me into paying them, I realized no amount of Donation Receipts (listing each and every tithing payment) would convince any court the tithing you paid was not a donation. The issue of tithing (very strict in the Mormon Church) was the issue that removed me from the church. My daughter was going through a financial hardship during a divorce with three children and I was needed to help support her and the boys! I beg to differ here. The Church still encourages women to marry as young as possible and to have as many children as the couple can reasonably afford to have. The only exception would be to go on a mission. I know that the church would like young women to think that the church is all modern and up to date but some things just never change.

Don’t agree with 6 since the use of birth control often doesn’t prevent fertilization, but only prevents implementation in the womb, meaning thousands of babies are intentionally flushed down the toilet each month. As a woman from Utah, a woman with several Mormon women in her family, and a direct relative of the once Prophet G.B Hinckley, most of this is OLD & not really true of today’s practicing Mormons (at least all the ones i know) i am NOT a Mormon but i was raised in the heart of the religion. Most i know aren’t much different from anyone else. There are some staunch Mormons that may follow the older ways & that’s fine for them. But most definitely aren’t like this.
Listen, there are some women in the church (and not in the church) that might do every one of these things to the T. A lot of women in the church choose not to. More now choose not to, in fact. You won’t get kicked out. Yes, there are some in the church that will silently or within circles judge you if you don’t follow every one of these. That’s their issue. Many in the church are becoming more understanding that the church should be about coming closer to Christ, not the strict following of rules of the supposed “culture” of the church.

As teacher I recommended that everyone to have a child stay at home, if possible. This is BS! Women are not expected to be stay at home moms rather than work. My Mothers side of the family has been Mormon for at least 4 gernerations prior to me. My Grandmother and her Sister were the 2nd and 3rd women to get Advanced Degrees from the University of Utah. Were Grandma alive today she would be over 120 years old. After the UOFU Grandma and her Sister moved to the Chicago area. Grandma worked full time to pay for rent, food, and car. My Great Aunt got a PHD from Northwestern University, going on to become the 1st female Deen at the University of Idaho. At some point along thr line she obtained 2,more Masters Degrees total 3(Math, Accounting, Busness Development, her PHD was Marketing her BA elementary Education. Rather than get a PHD my Grandmother wanted to start a business so her sister supported her teaching at the UOFU to help Grandma start her business. My Hreat and Great Great Grandmothers made and sold dreses in a shop they owned. Mom got a BA in Marketing, worked for Proctor and Gamble for a while, then while getting a Masters in Marketing at UC Berkeley where she met Dad. As a mormon woman I needed to know ehat i don´t want people to know haha, these articles are quite inaccurate, every church member needs to confess to the bishop, and all women have the blessing of being mothers but that doesn´t mean that work and having a professional career is kind of a sin at all, and about dressing, in church we must be virtous and modest but if I wear a short or a skirt above the knee that doesn´t make me a sinner. My mom converted to the LDS church the summer after my freshman year of high school. Even though I was never baptized, she made me go to that exhausting three-hour service every Sunday despite getting no sleep and having 8+ hours of homework on the weekends. She sent me to girl’s camp every summer. She enforced the Mormon dating and dress standards on me. The only social activities I was allowed to attend were Mormon youth events at the local stake. But out of curiosity and a desire to belong, I gave my testimony on that one Sunday a month. I took that awful, sticky Wonderbread and water communion. I even (LOL) did baptisms for the dead (nobody remembered I wasn’t baptized after awhile). I thought our local ward was very kind for the most part, but much of the doctrine seemed hinky. Because of my mom I STILL get calls, texts, and invitations from the Relief society everywhere I go no matter how many times I move. Mainly I was stuck on “But I don’t want 16 kids.” “I don’t know if I want to get married.” “Why would God throw out billions of his own creation because they weren’t LDS?” and all the other stuff that doesn’t stand up to rational scrutiny. And don’t even get me started on how creepy it is that they dictate your underwear. Decades later, there is no way any God would insist on only one way of worshiping him/her. Love is unconditional. The church has it wrong. If God was ever going to speak to me and tell me to join the LDS after being intimately exposed to the doctrine and way of life for years, he’d have done it by now.

If Mormons discourage women from having tattoos, good for them. I think this is literally true of Mormon fundamentalists, but in the LDS Church there is more latitude and variation in degrees of adherence. Although I’m a non-Mormon and have had my share of discussions with Mormons about doctrinal issues, they are right about some things. Tattoos are masculine in appearance and make women look like they’ve “been around the neighborhood,” shall we say. No tattoos is more feminine and wholesome looking.

I have been a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints for 35 years. And one thing that annoys me so much is why do other religions always get the wrong end of the stick and misunderstand what we believe in. The head of our church is Jesus Christ and that we have a prophet that receives direct revelation that comes from God our heavenly Father through his son Jesus Christ. I would like to ask you one question “By what authority do you receive your power from, and who establish and set your church up?” Because in the bible Jesus says “in my Father’s house there are many mansions and I go to my Father to prepare a place for you ” And there is another story/incident in the bible where a woman is caught in adultery and she going to get stoned, so Jesus bent down and wrote something in the sand and looked up and said ” let him without sin cast the first stone ” So I would like to say to everyone before you judge anyone, any religion or any book by its cover take a good look at it first, get the correct facts and take a good look at our selves before and within before we judge, and jump to conclusions. Just like Jesus looked at the woman caught in adultery with compassion and love and could see into her heart and soul and understood her and told her not to sin anymore. And lastly I would like to say please don’t judge because Jesus love’s us all it doesn’t matter where we come from, race, religion, what we believe in,colour . Because we are all Children of God, and we are all born of God and spirit and we all are Heavenly Father’s children and we all lived with God and all accepted Heavenly Father’s plan to come and live on this beautiful planet that he created for us.

I think you didn;t do your homework as you did not represent Mormon woman accurately. Did you talk to any real Mormon woman or only woman who have left the church? If you had done your homework you would understand how absolutely offensive of you showing footage that was illegally filmed of our mtgs in our temples. I don’t see any problems with the LDS community guidelines. The only surprise is not allowing the mother when a child is blessed or baptized, or one of the two. Every church is the house of the Lord and I do know one of these churches that only allows members to enter it. More like a Freemason lodge.

It’s right in that there are certain unwritten guidelines and that we teach that our bodies are like a temple and a gift given by God and should be treated with respect, but it won’t limit you to go on a mission, ect. 2. Yes for sure. Mom’s are incredibly important. But The Family: a proclamations to the world states that work situations can vary from family to family. Women aren’t forced but encouraged to fulfil their roll as main caregivers for their children yes. 3. Everybody needs to confess their sins to the bishop if they need help to repent, not just women. 4. It must cover the garments (underwear we wear to show our devotion to God and remember us of our promises made to God) The clothes guidelines about jeans ect. are for missionaries and does not apply to the rest. They represent the church actively and so must look professional. Wearing revealing clothes is not sinful. We are taught to respect ourselves, our bodies and the people around us by dressing modestly. 5. Heck yeah! We are absolutely equal! This was the most accurate point! 6. Yes true! 7. Yeah ofc not. Men hold the priesthood and it is a priesthood blessing. This comes back to point 5. We are equal but different. I fail to see why I wouldn’t want women to know certain points lol.
