I have so much respect for you and your husband. I am from a family of 11, and I completely understand the hardships. Somehow by the grace of God, we were able to stay housed until we all moved away after school. My daughter and I were houseless for 2 years after I divorced and my attorney ex husband took everything, and refused to pay child support. It was so hard for my little girl who went from a beautiful home and private school to living with people she didn’t know. She was in pre-professional ballet, and still at a private school while I had to live at my sisters 90 miles away. A family from the school offered to allow my daughter to stay with them M-F, and the mom was incredibly nice to take her to and from school, and ballet every day. On the weekends I would drive 90 miles to see her, but we had no place to stay, so we stayed at a Korean Spa that sold passes to stay over night, with many Korean families who stayed there for fun. Thank God for that! I’m sure the staff figured out we were houseless because they kicked us out at one point, and said we couldn’t come back. That was an all time low in my life. We ended up going to other Korean spa’s in the area, and would see the same unhoused ppl like us staying there. Sunday evenings were incredibly hard as I had to drop her off back with the family. We would sit in the car, crying because we had to say goodbye for the week. Too much for a 14 year old to go through. God saw us through though. I honestly still don’t understand why He allowed it, but I trust in his ultimate plan.

Instilling a love and appreciation of music in your children, most likely has came from both of you, because you both seem equally invested. Gaining mastery of one’s instrument(s) is something that parents also play a big part in. Encouraging their children to practice; paying for ongoing lessons and age appropriate instruments; listening to squeaks, shrills, tears, and sour notes. Let alone, making sure each child is prepared and on time for their lessons, auditions, and performances. Please write a book someday on how you and your husband helped to cultivate musical excellency in all of your children.

I have watched/listened to many of your programs. While I enjoy them, they are quite lengthy. You tend to carry on and repeat yourself pretty often. Since you are a unique family; not only is your family large number and extremely talented, you are living in NYC. I wish that you would show us more of your uniqueness (practices, audition struggles, sibling interaction, etc) while living in a very interesting large city. Please don’t exploit your children, it is not their job to contribute it’s their job to go to school and learn to be good humans and productive citizens. If for some reason your current housing doesn’t work out, check with the Brooklyn Hasidic community. Not only do they have large families but they also own a lot of properties in NYC. They would not be put off by your large family. They could actually be a helpful resource in navigating NYC. They own properties all over (not just within the Hasidic community). Incredible story. You gave it your all to give your children the best chance to succeed with their talents. I listened to their practices on you tube with the traditional Christmas songs and they really should make a cd. I certainly would promote it I dont think they would need much promoting as the music would sell itself. The sidewalk/staircase MJ was extraordinary.

I feel like a lot of people don’t see how music is the foundation of everything. The character building that friends say they got from sports or sororities in college I got from 4th-12th grades in concert, jazz & marching band. Teamwork & problem solving alone is enough that they have the foundation for a success in anything they choose later in life. I’m on Long Island (Nassau county) & in 7th grade a kid moved from Queens & they didn’t have music in elementary school so our band director had me help him privately during our normal lesson group because he just wasn’t at our level yet. While New York is definitely the place to be you’re so blessed that you’ve been able to make it work financially & were already homeschooling because while our public school programs exist they aren’t all created equally.

We briefly lived in nyc for 9 months but moved bk to ohio n its been hardships since. 33 moved from financially not having enough money n a home invasion no light hardly any food all with 2 kids on spectrum. Hoping all good things come your way. We are probably 6-7hrs from NYC but I would honestly, if you are paying to park your trailer, would let you park it here. Free. I don’t think it would cost anything. No laws against it that I know of. We are in the rural area near Oswego (where there is a SUNY college with a music program that I intended to do back in the day but didn’t)! Anyway, we’re also in some of the coldest parts of the state! But Oswego was actually just rated #3 for the best lake city to live in in the whole nation!! We’re a family of teachers and musicians. I was planning on it but never followed thru. Life happened. My brother is a self taught musician and singer and a fave around the area. My mom went to the college and got her BA in music and taught piano lessons (none like as advanced as yours would need) and played piano and organ at church. My youngest son taught himself to play as well after my mom died. So anyway, I know it’s far fetched type of offer, but it is sincere! Come in July for vacay. They have a big to do here called Harborfest.

Just curious did you look at Cincinnati? Most of our public schools have orchestras. We have an word renowned orchestra and Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. We also have a school for performing arts for grades K-12. Our cost of living is very reasonable. I think you missed an opportunity if you didn’t check out Cincinnati

This was a really interesting article to watch. We live a somewhat nomadic life at the moment as well 😂 and trying to figure out where we belong/what to do next… so this was refreshing to hear about someone else’s unconventional life (in a sense, everyone is unconventional in their own way I think!) I agree with you about dressing modestly. I also believe it’s common sense – and I wish more mothers of girls thought this same way instead of giving into trends. Glad I’m perusal your website!
Hello I’m a new subscriber although I’ve been perusal you for a small amount of time. Started perusal you because of your shorts, and all the music and intrigued with all the music. The fact that you living in New York and taking Subways and all that that’s foreign to me I’m from California and never taking Public Transit. I think what you are all doing is amazing, but hard ! Maybe keep articles shorter so you don’t have to edit as much. Also sticking to shorts that can be cross posted between IG/Tik Tok/YT. I have seen around the world violins 🎻 musicians Don’t get me wrong Some are god gifted some are god waiting list Irish folks love violins USA folks go to south india to learn music because is cheap for them . In our time one the greatest artists in violin Some from 🇮🇪 Your oldest daughter is not that bad she has a talent
You have a wonderful family, you and your husband are very attentive and loving parents!! Do you and your husband want to have more kids? My uncle is from a family of 14!! His parents didnt believe in birth control, so obviously she had quite a few kids!!! They all turned out wonderful! I am a only child and could never have that many children, lol! I wish I would have had the patience, but I dont! I have two beautiful daughters! You have the patience of a saint!! Bless you!!
Hello fellow New Yorker, both my sons played Cello in JHS and h.S my 27 yr old would love to start re-learning Cello but with life expensive etc it’s been tough he’s Christian and very into his bible and being closer to God. I also have a 8 year old that I would love to learn play Violin. Does your family give affordable lessons we live in NYC also.

I’m not completely sure how patreon works but I am subscribed to a few websites who use it to provide extra content to subscribers who would like to support them financially. With the amazing talent of your family perhaps you could do something along those lines? Produce special music content or even lessons etc.? First, I want to congratulate you on a great job telling a complicated story. Second, the living hand-to-mouth parts of your story are parts of all artists stories. I’ve earned my living as a painter and I know what I’m talking about. It’s just part of all creatives right of passage. Lastly, I want to say the biggest revelation in your discussion is the light of God is in your life. Jesus is the Waymaker, and he has certainly made a way for you and your family. The hard part for us, humans is staying in faith and holding to the path. Your family has most certainly achieved, both. Truly, it is a story of miracles and I rejoice hearing it. Do your children get any of their talent from mom and dad?? 😊 I love learning about other people’s stories. I remember in the 80’s in elementary school we started violin in school in the fourth grade and each grade up people could expand to different instruments. I don’t think this is prevalent anymore 😢

That was really shady of the landlord in S.F. Your neighbors and you guys could have had open dialogue about the practices. A group text with open communication, like “I will be in zoom meetings @ these times during the day and the rest of the time practice and have @ it”. That way everyone is respectful of the space/apartments. There is no communication between neighbors anymore, it’s a shame. I am in the South and everyone in my neighborhood does everything that they can to help their neighbors.
Oh, my – so many nervous gestures and hand waving and scattered thoughts! I couldn’t follow with all the distractions. So I’m trying to figure out if the parents work or if the whole family just depends on the kids making the money. These huge shopping excursions you post are expensive and I don’t know how you afford those very expensive music schools. I hope your kids aren’t taking out student loan debt!

Thank god you didn’t make it to reality tv. Seriously, if you look at any of those reality tv families, they’re all doing so poorly, reality tv and family vlogging does not result in good long term outcomes for kids mental health and development. Please continue to focus on the music but don’t make your kuds‘ private personal information thr ficzs of the website.
One thing that will help your social media income, accounts & watchers to be more successful is to BE YOURSELF! Don’t say things that everyone else is saying, such as “I’m not gonna lie”, “I feel like…” & “like” every fourth word! It’s really annoying & completely UNINTERESTING. Kind of like people who say “…ya know I’m sayin” or “ya feel me” constantly. I, myself, will not subscribe to or watch anyone who does that. I made it to the end of THIS article in spite of that. It’s like someone who constantly curses & shows a complete lack of unique individuality & intelligence. You seem like a bright, warm Christian woman that I would be interested in following but not if you’re going to talk like a teenager plus. I’m just being honest & offering my own opinion-take it into consideration or not, as you wish. I do wish you & your family well & I’ll check back with you from time to time.
I’m wondering why you are surprised that you huge number of children which always creates noise along with the music noise should be accepted by neighbors who need to live peacefully. You need to live in a house with acreage around it so you don’t bother other people. Living on unemployment with neither of you working and a big family is totally unrealistic.
Your kids are amazing But I feel if you can’t afford that many and need donations you should stop having children and maybe pull back on music, if you can afford it great but if you can’t 🤷🏻♀️ If you have savings you should be using that before taking money off other people. Plus ‘DD’ should not be promoted, they exploit their children to no end 😢 Good luck in the journey Ps your husband NEEDS a job Any job, if he has to stack shelves to support his family that’s what he should be doing 😢
Cemetery they are called, Not “Grave yard.” Seriously? 12 kids? In this day and age, unless you are fabulously wealthy….and even then, or live on a farm (you are clearly not. wealthy) It doesn’t even sound like your husband is gainfully employed permanently. Maybe it’s time to look forward to being a Grandmother.
