Meri Brown, a star of TLC’s reality TV show “Sister Wives”, and Kody Brown, a former wife of the show’s creator, broke up in September 2014 to marry his fourth wife, Robyn. The couple had been estranged since October 2022 before confirming their split in January 2023. After years of difficulty, Meri and Kody decided to step away from their relationship in the finale of Sister Wives season 18. Meri revealed that it was a mutual decision, but Kody tried to push the narrative that Meri had a heartbreaking relationship with Kody.
Meri’s decision to leave the plural marriage came after Christine and Janelle Brown left the family, leaving only Robyn Brown as Kody’s legal spouse. The couple had been together for over 30 years before confirming their split in December 2022. In February 2024, Meri confirmed on Instagram that they had called it quits.

Are Meri And Robyn Still Friends?
Meri Brown's relationship with Robyn Brown and her ex-husband Kody Brown has significantly changed over the years. Meri shared that while she occasionally sees and communicates with them, her focus is on moving forward with her life. The friendship between Meri and Robyn, once depicted as harmonious on "Sister Wives," has become more complicated, leading to questions about their current bond. Though they were portrayed as close friends sharing a unique sisterhood, their interactions have diminished, primarily limited to filming or holidays. Robyn has previously advocated for Kody to reconcile with Meri, but Meri now admits that she no longer views Robyn as a sister wife, especially after leaving her 32-year marriage to Kody.
Currently, Meri appears to be more concentrated on her own life rather than her past ties. Recent updates suggest that she is distancing herself, having mentioned she has had months without contact from Robyn or Kody, solidifying her independent path. Despite past assertions of a supportive friendship, recent dynamics indicate a cooling in their relationship. In a recent episode, Meri expressed that she is not close to Robyn's children either, further emphasizing her emotional distance.
Although Kody hopes for an open dialogue and a friendly relationship among them, Meri's priorities seem clearer—she is committed to her own growth and happiness rather than sustaining close ties with her former sister wives.
What Happened With Meris Catfish?
In 2015, Sister Wives star Meri Brown became embroiled in a catfishing scandal after developing an online relationship with someone she believed to be a man named Sam Cooper. However, this individual was later revealed to be a woman named Jackie Overton impersonating a man. Meri confirmed the deception in a statement to People, expressing gratitude for her family's support during the ordeal. The affair lasted six months and began amid feelings of neglect in her marriage to Kody Brown. This significant breach of trust strained their relationship, which ultimately ended in 2022 after 33 years of marriage.
Throughout the years, the catfishing incident has been a recurring topic among fans and has impacted both Meri and Kody significantly. While initially denied by Meri, reports indicated that her child had warned her about the catfish. In the aftermath of the scandal, Kody's relationships with other wives also faced challenges. Despite the passing of time, the fallout from Meri's misguided online romance continued to affect her personal life and her marriage.
The situation notably unfolded during Season 9 of Sister Wives, highlighting the dramatic nature of Meri's connection with the so-called Sam Cooper and the subsequent revelations that rocked the show’s fan base and her marriage.
Does Robyn On Sister Wives Have A Job?
Robyn Brown, a stay-at-home married mother from Sister Wives, has shifted her career focus since relocating to Flagstaff, Arizona. She now runs a business called Strive with Janelle, which offers workout motivation, health coaching, and merchandise. Viewers have witnessed her earlier struggles to launch her jewelry venture, My Sisterwife's Closet, amid significant drama. Despite critics insisting she never held a traditional job, Robyn has been involved in various ventures, leading to questions about her financial contributions to the family, particularly as Kody Brown’s favored wife.
Over 13 years on TLC, Robyn has faced scrutiny over perceptions of not pulling her weight financially. However, she receives income from the reality show and has tried to support her family through her online jewelry and clothing business. Robyn, who shares two children with Kody—Solomon and Ariella—has also sparked debates regarding her need for a nanny, questioning the dynamics of her household responsibilities.
While she is often seen maintaining a low profile on social media, Robyn has indeed taken on multiple roles, including being a New York Times best-selling author, further adding layers to her complicated narrative within the Brown family.
Who Is Meri Brown?
Meri Brown, known as Kody Brown's first legal wife on "Sister Wives," is dating a new man named Amos, marking her first public romance since separating from Kody in January 2023. Meri, who announced her departure from a 32-year polygamous marriage, introduced Amos to her Instagram followers and described him as a "good looking guy." The reality star has shared several photos of their relationship online, indicating a positive shift in her life since the split.
In a preview of an upcoming episode, Meri became emotional while on a trip to England. Although she and Kody are no longer married, Meri is focusing on her life moving forward. In her past, she and Kody were married from 1990 until 2014, with Meri now feeling empowered post-divorce. This new chapter in her life follows the separation of her fellow sister wife Christine, who divorced Kody in 2021, highlighting the changes within their family dynamic. Meri's journey of self-discovery continues as she navigates this new relationship.
Where Is Leon Brown Now?
Leon and Audrey have been residing in Denver since 2022, where they recently had a secret wedding in August 2023, though family attendance remains unspecified. Despite being off the Sister Wives show, Meri frequently engages with their social media posts. Leon, who debuted on Sister Wives in 2010 as Mariah Brown, is now recognized as a transgender man. Leon and Audrey took a trip back to Wyoming to reconnect with family, sharing their experiences on Instagram.
The Browns have strong ties to the state, as they spent their early years there. Leon and Audrey are navigating their lives together while occasionally interacting with family members. Leon's journey has included significant milestones, such as undergoing gender-affirming surgery, which they shared on TikTok in January 2023, alongside their transition experiences. Leon has distanced himself from some family members, notably Kody and Robyn Brown.
Despite challenges, Leon has remained active on social media, documenting their progress and sharing joyful moments with Audrey. Leon's transition and marriage mark an exciting new chapter as they continue to embrace their true identity while maintaining a life away from much of the reality show drama.
Which Sister Wife Leaves First?
After over 30 years together, Christine was the first to leave Kody during Sister Wives season 17, feeling ready to exit their relationship for some time. Embracing her independence, she finally found happiness. In January 2023, Meri also announced her separation from Kody, officially marking the end of their marriage. Although they issued a joint statement, Meri's personal reflections hinted at deeper feelings of dissatisfaction. Christine's departure in November 2021 set a precedent, as subsequent seasons showcased the gradual unraveling of Kody's plural family.
Following Christine, both Janelle and Meri left, reducing Kody's wives to Robyn Brown, his only legal spouse. The dynamics of their relationships shifted considerably, with each wife choosing to prioritize personal fulfillment over their plural marriage. Meri and Kody's union had begun back in 1990, but after numerous tensions, Meri confirmed their split during a "Sister Wives" special. Now, after years of complex family dynamics, Kody's familial landscape has drastically changed, leaving him estranged or divorced from his first three wives, while Christine, Janelle, and Meri each seek new futures outside their marriages with him.
Did Kody Dump Meri?
Meri and Kody Brown remained spiritually married despite their estrangement in recent years, culminating in Meri's decision to end their relationship in late 2022, following the departures of fellow sister wives Christine and Janelle. Although Kody had previously expressed regret over marrying Meri and claimed to never have loved her, he did not formally end their marriage. In a confessional, Kody revealed that he should have divorced Meri 25 years ago but stayed out of fear.
Meri and Kody's journey began in 1990 with a monogamous marriage, transitioning to polygamy with the addition of Janelle in 1993 and Christine in 1994. Their breakup was publicly confirmed in January 2023 through a joint Instagram post. Despite their estrangement, Kody assisted Meri in her move from Flagstaff, Arizona, to Utah, highlighting the emotional complexity of their relationship. Kody and Meri had previously divorced legally in 2010 for Kody to marry Robyn but remained spiritually committed.
In a recent episode of Sister Wives, Meri reflected on their split, revealing differing views on polygamy as a contributing factor. The couple's separation marks the end of a significant chapter in their lives after over three decades together.
Did Robyn Become Meris Surrogate?
That night, Meri and I discussed Robyn for two hours. Their close bond deepened when Robyn offered to be a surrogate for Meri, who faced fertility challenges. Kody rejected the idea, stating he would prefer a natural occurrence. This topic has intrigued "Sister Wives" fans since Robyn's offer during season two. Despite Meri's desire for more children, she struggled with accepting Robyn's proposal until recently. Viewers speculated on Meri's hesitance, wondering if Robyn's intent was genuine or manipulative.
Although Robyn expressed sincere willingness to assist, Meri hesitated, knowing she wouldn’t carry the baby and could miss prenatal bonding experiences. With only one daughter, Mariah, Meri has longed for more children but has not conceived since Mariah's birth over 15 years ago. Robyn also faced scrutiny for her offer, as many questioned her motives. Despite the complexities of their relationship, Robyn's offer seemed altruistic, especially considering her younger age and her previous successful pregnancies.
The show chronicled Meri's struggle to decide and her ongoing fertility issues. As of now, Kody is left with one wife, Robyn, following the end of his relationships with Meri, Janelle, and Christine. The dynamic within the family continues to affect their choices regarding surrogacy and family expansion.
What Season Did Meri Leave Kody?
In Season 18 of "Sister Wives," Meri Brown openly discusses her tumultuous relationship with Kody Brown, particularly her decision to publicly address their breakup. Despite Kody's initial reluctance due to concerns over public backlash, Meri feels compelled to share her journey following Christine Brown's departure from their plural marriage. The couple's separation was formally announced in January 2023, yet the emotional fallout unfolds in the November 2023 episode.
During this episode, Meri reveals her intention to move to Utah, stating she will not renew her lease in Flagstaff, indicating a significant step towards independence. Ultimately, the season concludes with Meri affirming her decision to end their over 30-year marriage—both spiritual and legal—highlighting the culmination of a long-standing struggle. Fans and viewers are left to ponder the reasons behind the couple's breakup, particularly as Meri reflects on her enduring loyalty to Kody since the 1990s.
The fallout continues into Season 19, where Meri's feelings waver after an emotional encounter with Kody, suggesting that despite the separation, unresolved emotions linger. Ultimately, Meri's journey showcases the complexities of her relationship with Kody amidst the evolving dynamics of their family.
Is Meri Brown Married?
Meri Brown, a star on "Sister Wives," spoke about her relationship with Kody Brown, stating that despite their history and her love for him, Kody has chosen not to reciprocate those feelings and does not consider himself married to her. This sentiment was echoed in a recent clip where Kody declared he doesn’t view Meri as his wife. Following their split, Meri briefly dated a man named Amos, whom she referred to as the "good looking guy" she met in October 2023.
However, this romance has ended, as she confirmed on January 17. Meri, who was Kody's first legal wife from 1990 to 2014, has humorously responded to rumors of her having married multiple times and addressed gossip about her recent relationship status, clarifying that she remains single. After over three decades together, Meri and Kody's spiritual union concluded with their split in 2023. As she moves on, Meri is focusing on her family and supporting her loved ones, including participating in Gwendlyn Brown's wedding celebrations.

📹 How Janelle & Kody’s Divorce Happened Sister Wives
After a heated fight between Janelle & Kody, they sit together to resolve their issues, but could this be the end of Janelle and …
This article is so stupid. “You’d think that a woman of 50 would talk more about their family or husband.” WHY? First of all, it’s her birthday, she owes no one anything. Second, as a mom with an empty nest, I’m focusing on me. Yes, I LOVE my kids and my husband, but my personal happiness is my responsibility. Being married or being a mom doesn’t strip us of our personhood, or personal goals. And a man and a family, or lack thereof, do not define a woman.
Honestly if I was one of the sister wives I would have taken my kids to her place in front write in sidewalk chalk written happy birthday on her drive way, delivered her face cake. Kody should have had flowers delivered. The small ones could do pictures for her fridge (all mom’s love that) . Even in a pandemic….it is possible to show kindness and love
Mary is passive aggressive. It’s always about Mary and what the family isn’t doing for her. Her behavior on the show is so ridiculous and immature. As long as she can call the shots and be the center of attention she’s happy. She chose this life style and couldn’t get along with Janelle right off the bat. She’s the problem and probably should move on.
I know people don’t like Meri, but I actually have a bit of a soft spot for her. I dont think she was ever meant for this “lifestyle”. I despise the mlm thing, but totally understand how the sister wives were roped into it ( not to mention, the ease since they already have a platform). I kinda hope she throws the middle finger to them all (especially Kody) and goes and has a happy life. (I also hope Christine does the same)
Nope, nope, nope, nope and nope! It’s her day to celebrate her. They should have taken their opportunities to let her know how much she means to them. She could’ve acknowledged her family as some do on their birthdays but don’t think it’s a requirement. I relate to Mary. I’m not a sister wife and I don’t have children because I cannot, but I feel isolated at times because every friend I have has drifted away because their lives are vastly diffrent than mine. Between all of the birthdays, graduations, bridal and baby showers, weddings and other things going on in others people’s lives- I’m in their world’s much more often than they ever step in mine. I’m sure with everything she’s gone through and without support from her part time (seasonal appearances) husband it probably has taken a toll. Being able to rebuild herself, be happy and looking forward to life is a reason to celebrate herself. Rupaul said it best “If you can’t love yourself, how the heck are you gonna love somebody else?” Go Mary!
Mary brought a lot of this on herself. Being the first wife she was controlling and mean to the next two wives and most of their children. Even her own daughter had major issues with her until Mary accepted her lifestyle. Mary is only good with Robyn’s younger children and dogs, other than that she comes across as mean and controlling…
It doesn’t surprise me that they forgot her birthday, Kody is a jerk and only has room in his life for Robyn, wait and see everything he does for Robyn on her birthday. I don’t really watch the show anymore because I can’t stand Kody and Robyn. Mari was always my favorite when I used to watch it. I actually found this Chanel by accident.
I like meri the best because she was treated like crap by Cody and she had to find a way to help her self asleep. She knew that Cody and Robin was lying as to why he needed to divorce merit. Meri resents all of them. Her religion is making her miserable. She needs another good man who has no intention of getting more wives than her. Stay off the websites they are dangerous I should know.
She spent her birthday with her family so why would they need say Happy Birthday online? Oh, and I’m curious, where u got the false info from that she is done! Please, for the Love of God, stop spreading these rumors. The desperation you display doesn’t look good on you and the click bait is getting OLD. JUST STOP
She also runs a cute bed and breakfast. Its called “lizzie’s heritage inn” in Utah. You seem like you don’t like her. Why would she mention a divorce? I sure wouldn’t in my birthday post. She sounds like she’s happy. Maybe her relationship is doing better with Cody now. You know ups and downs happen in a marriage.
1. I am superhappy for Meri being happy. 2. I think she doesn’t talk about them because they treat her bad, because she puts up her walls. But if they are patient and show her love & support on daily basis, she would probable been more open herself. I see myself in her. I’m not the legal one, I’m a one child mom with almost zero support of my autism son. And I’m in wheelchair myself. 3. I have zero support from his dad. Only sharing bed every 3 weeks. 4. I have a really BAD news for you. My economic made me cancel many memberships. Unfortunately you were one of them😭 I cried oceans for hrs after I cut you off. I miss the live stream for members💔. Please forgive me🙏 Lots of love…
Meri, continues to stay with that family for the kids, she’s compromising her happiness. Therefore, she needs to walk away. She needs to work on starting her own life and needs to quit compromising her happiness for all those kids and those other sister wives. Exactly, they want her to continue to be apart of there family but, yet, they don’t want nothing to do with her since, Kody wants nothing to do with her. You only live once and, it’s not worth it to put your life on the back burner and, if there’s no relationship with any of the sister wives and kids and, since, her and, Kody are done, why would you keep putting yourself through that? At this point they only want to keep her and stay with the family is to use her for her money. She has to realize she as a person deserves better than this. Kody, sure only sees her as income source so, he can mooch every nickel he can get from her. I wouldn’t certainly want to be around a man who no longer gives 2 ounces about me and, have to see him regularly interact with 3 other women day in and day out.
It’s not a big deal to miss someone’s birthday. I forget my own families birthday until Facebook started reminding me. And we don’t really care if someone forgets it. I usually don’t remember my own. And Meri stays because she likes the money from the show. Her house rent is $4,500.00. And she doesn’t make that much money.
I was the biggest fan of this show, until I was shut in this year and started re-watching all the seasons on repeat. Participating on the chat boards, you would think it’s a show about 3 happily married polygamous women, their narcissistic husband and the fourth wife who came along as a home wrecker. However, when you really listen, you find out that Kody was engaged to Robyn before the show started filming (we never saw a time when Robyn wasn’t in the picture). Christine had every intention of being the last wife. We learn that Meri and Kody haven’t been “a real married couple” since whatever the big blowup was that caused Janelle to move out for two years – it took 9 seasons and a very public catfish for that nugget to be exposed. I hope they come back (rumored by Janelle for February 14th) and answer all the questions from th last 18 months of vagueposting. I think this show was supposed to be a guide to wedded bliss and polygamy 101. I think Kody gave a mandate to keep it positive and don’t air dirty laundry. Instead, they filmed a real life family with all the same ups and downs as any other 4 families trying to make it work without sharing a husband.
The opening was just snarky! And rude. Your website used to be fun. I now longer find fun in the way you carry yourself or present your content. You seem to want empathy/ sympathy for all the law suits or “personal attacks” Yet you seem to rejoice in personally attacking, those you cover. As a woman w. A large platform to do good. You chose to tear apart women. Yes, reality stars open themselves for public opinion. That doesn’t mean they deserve to be personally attacked by you. Your personal assumptions as in this article. Just because IG, bday wishes weren’t there. Doesn’t mean she didn’t receive any wishes. Your assuming Jinger and Jeremy Duggar are separating bc of a podcast pause. I do see a lot of what you tubers, are saying about you. This is farewell to WOACB. Im choosing a positive insight. Instead of supporting your negativity.
Happy birthday Mary. I would like to wish you a wonderful time for yourself you deserve it girl I am a senior citizen and I’m over the seventies and I start perusal the show a while back and then I stopped perusal it because I’ve seen things that we’re going to be happening and it’s sad that in a way I would have happened but look at it this way God is open the doors for you now to be free to enjoy life don’t let nobody get you down you know and don’t let anybody try to blame you for things that’s not your fault because I have a situation where I made one mistake and let me tell you I was prosecuted condemned and crucified like Jesus but Jesus was real and that was worse than I can imagine but the thing is it that don’t let that get down you still got to let you know I just enjoy life sweetheart because there’s somebody out there that’s going to understand you and help you through a lot of stuff and you don’t know be surprised you might meet the right person you know and don’t let anybody tell you any different because you’re a beautiful woman inside and out and you look great sweetheart keep on doing what you’re doing sweetheart I love you and God loves you and
I’m wondering if Mari has pulled the purse strings back a little. She’s tired of supporting these extra kids especially the last wife who has had 2 children with her and can’t support them. Mari is not giving them the money they need so they are snubbing her. Did she give money for janelles daughters surgery. I think not so these poor wives are angry with Mari. Because she’s doing the damn thing
Meri is definitely super passive aggressive and uncommitted even in season 1. I can understand why the family feels they’re dragging her along because she clearly wants to be the center of attention in a dynamic that requires you to be selfless (which isn’t healthy either). However she’s the one pretending she believes in all this when clearly she does not and she has some deep Mormon denial to sort through like all of them lol.
First happy birthday Mary. Mary has tried to fix everything, but the family isn’t doing their part. Yeah Kody goes to Therapy, but I don’t see him doing the work. It takes effort on both sides Mary’s, Kody, and family. When you don’t feel the love and don’t feel wanted the better why is to leave and find your own happiness. I don’t blame Mary. I blame Kody it’s his family and he’s not keeping them happy or working with them. Polygamy He talks about he doesn’t really follow The rules for polygamy he said that I heard it. When Mariah And the kids start to get married or so I’m not quite sure where, but I heard it out of his mouth. He’s the head of the household he should be trying to fix something instead of sitting there say he don’t know what to do. Kody You’re losing your wives.
Katie Joy………Most generally I like you, but don’t you think you’re being a bit snarky to Mary? Why should she be the one to hold this family together? How do you know the others haven’t wished her well in some other way? So what if they haven’t. What is she supposed to do if they don’t, sit in a corner & wait for death?! Seems to me Mary’s the one that was all for bringing Robyn in the family AND divorce her legal husband so Robyn’s kids could be adopted to be able to become a “Brown” as all the other children. Mary has given a lot of herrself & unselfishly put her feelings aside at times. But we’re not bringing that up bc it don’t quite fit in today’s article. Janelle & Christine has done their fair share for the family too. Bottom line, King Kody needs to step up & be the man he should & take care of the kids he brought into the world first, then worry about catering to another woman & her children who by all accounts has a relationship with their own bio Dad. Kody needs to get HIS priorities straight, NOT his first 3 wives!
Welcome to the big 50 years you are so beautiful and I wish you all the best and luck in your life you deserve nothing but happiness find what makes you feel good I have always thought they used you and you were never appreciated and thrown to the curb you are so sweet so much better than being in his messy world his narcissistic behavior hes not worth your time or money or your committing only to him I hope you find your happiness and that one man who wants you only being married to you only
