  • One chart I like to look at for visualization is found on Puzzilla.org. They tie in to familysearch (you log in with the same credentials). They have a pedigree/fan chart, and you select a desired person (no names are seen until you hover over or click on a red/blue dot). But what I LOVE is going to an ancestor about 6+ generations back, selecting one of those ancestors and then selecting a descendancy chart. You get a circular chart, with each “ring” being a generation descended from that ancestor you chose. (make sure you up the # of generations to bring the outer “ring” to the present day. A yellow line overlaid shows where YOUR path to that ancestor appears. You can use it to look for obvious spaces to work on where descendants don’t appear. It’s cool to print as a wall chart (doesn’t have names, just visualization). I’ve used mine as charts to target what areas I want to work on, and to visualize the progress I’ve made. They now have a tool that works with Chrome that searches those descendants for sources that may contain new people to add to your tree. There are free/paid versions of access, which gives you different levels of search capabilities.
