📹 Selena Quintanilla’s Husband Reunites With Her Family E! News
Two years after resolving a legal dispute with the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla’s father, Chris Perez reunites with …
I feel like her family is more interested in the money. Chris’ book is amazing. The love he had and still has for her is something most people will never experience. The fact that her family is trying to stop anyone from telling their personal experiences is insulting to her memory. She LOVED everyone around and would want the world to know the real her, not just the famous side. She was a person like everyone else, her job didn’t define her. The stories of her being a normal person who loved animals, could drive anything, and wanted a separate life from just the band, are the most beautiful stories to be told, they’re worth sharing and remembering.
This is why I have mixed feelings about her family. As her husband, Chris was supposed to get everything and trusted his in-laws not to screw him over and that’s exactly what they did. It’s a betrayal. The guy can’t even make a show about his own life with his wife?? (I have that book by the way, it’s beautiful ❤) They treat Chris as if he was a stain on Selena’s legacy which would upset Selena the most since she loved him more than enough to marry him. She would be heartbroken to see how her own family and dad are mistreating the man she loved. Poor Chris 😢 RIP Selena ❤❤❤
Chris even said in a interview a year ago he said he feels that her family is trying to silence her and tell the world how she really was. She would have emotional breakdowns and all that over the stress her father put her through but they didn’t show that in the series how her father tracked chris down when him and selena started dating because she came home late keep in mind she was living in her own place when her and chris Started dating she was an adult
Living in CC and seeing firsthand how her family are like vultures still picking at the carcass of her talents from when she was alive is disgusting and pathetic to me. Obviously, all they have done is make their living off her since her death. None of them have amounted to anything on their own. Her husband has been treated so disrespectfully by them. At least, he has tried to make his own life and not seen her death and legacy as some kind of carnival show to generate money from. Her father respects her legacy as long as it’s generating a paycheck for him and he can control people with it. Her sister is still jealous of her and her talents. Her brother can’t seem to pay for the kids he continues to make and keep himself out off of deadbeat dad warrant lists. If you go to visit her “museum” if you can call it that. It’s pathetic. All of the exhibits have been poorly maintained and are ratted, faded and junked up. Nothing has been preserved. You can tell it’s all just out there to make money for them. These people are the worst excuse for caretakers of a talent’s legacy since Colonel Tom Parker and worst. Chris is a good soul and the only one that has ever truly honored the loss of her and who she truly was despite the money machine she was to her whole family. Shame on them.
Selena was one of a kind. Just a down-to-earth happy young lady. Very genuine n respectful, which you don’t see much of now-a-days in famous people. There was not a superficial bone in her body. I hate what happened to her. She never deserved this. Smh. Selena we LOVE you ALWAYS wherever you are Sweetie! 🙏🙏🙏❤
After all, it was all a business plan from the get go. He wasn’t trying to support his kids talents. He wanted to make money off them. He exploited them and considered them a business transaction, not family. It’s sad what fame, money and power does to a person. He wasn’t able to succeed as an artist so he found another way. What a POS father. R.I.P Selena. You are always missed🥀🤍
It’s a shame that Chris didn’t seek out council sooner. Everything she left behind, her money, was rightly his. Husband Trumps Daddy in the law. He signed over power to her Father in hopes he’d be fair. Chris could of given them some cash, just to show respect & been done with it. Now, he’s controlled. 😬🤑😵💫🤙
Chris came along after the family was successful. This was always a family business. They were the ones that sacrificed for years and years moving out of their house, living with relatives, getting on food stamps, losing their restaurant, playing backyard gigs and even getting laughed at and so very much more. Once they hit it big, then Chris came along. He did absolutely nothing but marry Selena and for just over 2 years. I see why the dad gets so mad at people wanting to profit off of her when they had nothing to do with their success. They didn’t sacrifice and they didn’t lose a loved one. That’s like you, the person reading this, getting your paycheck and me coming along with my hand out wanting a part of your money even though you don’t know me and I didn’t work for crap. They also endured the ultimate sacrifice. The loss of their daughter. Chris was able to get another wife but the Q’s couldn’t get another baby girl. And the fact that Chris still receives money to this day form the Q’s and has received millions over the past 27 years and still wants to make more off of telling “his” story speaks volumes about his greedy character as well. If he really wanted to tell his story he could certainly do it for free, but guess what? He’ll only do it if he gets paid. 🤦♂️ The Q’s have every right to every cent made off of their late daughter.
Yolanda saldavar was sleeping with Abraham remember he is the one who hired her He’s the one who refuse to tell Selena the full story he also blamed her from stealing from fans but he had the checks they went in his bank Notice the jury never convicted her on thieft of the money Why? If he said this all started when yalanda was found to be a thieft what proof did he have ??!!! On her I think Abraham was just like Beyonce daddy dipping the the money when he could not account for the lost money he quickly used Yolanda. Yolanda was not the brightest cookie in the jar He knew this He bought her to Selena store and told her to run it for them his wife didn’t know how he knew her Yolanda fixing to get out of prison soon And that book gonna be super Yolanda is a demon for sure I will never understand why she didn’t just leave the Or ask Selena to leave
Y’all crazy! Why should Chris get everything? I’m sure Selena loved Chris but I don’t think her love for Chris was superior to her OWN family. if you watch interviews Selena always made sure to say how much she loved her family and how much they meant to her. Y’all just talk nonsense for no reason. Chris got in drugs and became an alcoholic right after Selena’s passing. Imagine if he had taken charge of Selena legacy? Selena would not be the same if that was the case. Selena’s family has made sure to always keep her life and story as relevant as the day when she passed. Yes Abraham also has some issues but at the end of the day it’s their daughter.
I Read Selena’s Secret it’s really hard to believe who’s stories are true because none of us were there all we have is others words and people say and do anything to make a buck. All I believe and know as a fan…is she was an amazing tejano artist and she is loved by many. Now people should let her rest in peace she deserves that.
So Selena and her band were a business, they had been splitting everything 4 ways, her dad, brother sister and her. So when she die her husband got her part of the business. He signed over ownership of her image. Chris got her boutiques which were hers only. Suzette got to be manager but Chris still got her share. Mr. Q opened Q productions and selena was president but wasn’t the sole owner. Chris gets what he would have gotten if she were still alive and didn’t do the English album. She got 1/4 of the family business so when she died Chris got that, why does everyone act like he doesn’t get anything at all? Also Chris wrote his book but it was when he tried to do a tv show that mr q sued him. It wasn’t announced at the time but they were in the works to do the tv show with Netflix, Chris got his share of that as well. He just wasn’t allowed to make his own show based on his book but in the future maybe he will. Also after she died Chris withdrew from everything, he was in his 20s with no managerial experience, he was a guitarist and occasionally helped write music and arrange it, what did he know about managing her image? She wouldn’t be where she is today if her dad and sister weren’t managing her image now. He wasn’t interested for almost 20 years while fans wanted concerts and more CDs and posters and all that stuff, he would not have gotten us anything we have because he was too distraught but her dads way of handling his grief was to throw himself into work and keeping her legacy alive which he did.
Stuff like this bugs me. The actual story is… For one thing Selena y Los Dinos (the actual bands name) was started when Selena was very young. It was a family business and Selena was only the singer. Her dad booked the gigs, drove and worked on the bus as in repaired it. Back in the beginning their bus (big bertha) was old and needed lots of repairs. Before then they drove whatever they could. AB (Selena’s brother) produced and wrote many of the songs and played bass. Suzette helped Selena make their outfits, hair and helped with makeup and played drums They all did their part. The whole family did this for a living. They had no other jobs. They were a family band and chose to split everything 4 ways. Mom and dad split 1/4, Selena got 1/4, AB got 1/4 and Suzette got 1/4. And Selena got all of her modeling money and anything else she did like boutique was all hers. It was their sole income. And they did this long before chris came along. When Selena died, her family not only lost her, they lost their only source of income. Chris has told that he started drinking heavily when Selena died. Truth be told, he still does. But he had it really bad after she died. Plus he was only married to Selena for 3 years. Selena was buried either on their 3rd anniversary or day after. So a few months after Selena died, her dad drew out a contract where Chris would get Selena’s part of all band income and Abraham would keep rights to her name. And frankly I don’t blame him. Selena y los Dinos started 10 years before Chris ever come into the picture.
Her family particularly her father wanted her to be his meal ticket. & kept things going profiting. Her husband moved on in silence that should tell you something. Chris should have gotten everything. If he were a woman we would demand it. Her family should get 9-5. That new Netflix was horrible. I think Perez should have been able to tell his story. That Dad is money hungry.
Chris Perez wasn’t screwed over. The money was always dived. Chris got royalties for playing guitar and on top of that inherited Selena’s royalties. So really he earns 50% of the money. That is why even tho he had a falling out with the family. He has NEVER complained about them mishandling Selena’s brand & the finances. In fact Chris has always defended the family even still today from claims by the fans they they’re greedy & money hungry. Their fall out was simply because of a disagreement over Selena’s image. Chris wants to over share some very intimate details that wouldn’t make her brand very family friendly. The family wants to keep it PG. Things that incriminates Selena as a hypocrite cause according to Chris she did not practice what she preached. And Selena’s father has her image to protect..
Selena’s family did not treat Chris right at all her husband. I do not understand why they took the money that belonged to him. They weren’t married. It was not right at all what her father did to her husband I have no respect for it. I did have a lot of respect for her father and her family until she died. Nothing was handled right at all what gave her father the right to take all the money they were married. Obviously, Things were not handled correctly. She would’ve had to have a life insurance policy that he was her husband Chris was the beneficiary of. I don’t understand how her father could do what he did to her husband being Chris he was never after her money. He loved her and she would’ve wanted him to have the money that was deserved to him.
Because she was an Adult of legal age and Married..Her husband should have inherited her Estate..unless she left a Will before she died that included her Parents and Siblings….She talked of her love for her husband in interviews before she died..She seemed to be so happy…They where so much in love and very happy….Perhaps he (Chris) in grief felt bad for the family and felt they should share in her Estate..It should have been a 70/30 split…70% to the husband. 30% to the Family…Eventually at Somepoint in her blossoming career she would have broken free from her Father as her Manager….Every big Entertainer does it because they want more say in how things are done and want to not be under someone else’s control…Maybe that was something they both talked about.. ..In Death he is and will always be her manager..
If u read To Selena with Love then you would know Selena wanted to distance herself from her controlling father and wanted to have more control over her future. Her father was against her relationship with Chris, didn’t want her to do anything with fashion and was against her stores. Because it was bringing money in he couldn’t touch and he did everything he could stop her and prevent her from doing anything but music. He should be ashamed of himself.
Yes Chris is her husband but he wasn’t there the entirety of her career. I see where Abraham is coming from he’s trying to protect his daughters image and is doing a great job at it look how big she still is. Selena came from a very religious household and she’s from TEXAS explains why Abraham want to protect her. But I wish they would settle their differences.
There REALLY are a lot of ignorant new “fans” in these comments who are beyond over emotional,,,, along with the creator of this article who never made articles of her unless it garners them views….look for the article of Chris stating why HE decided to sign off to the family that along with Selena created the legacy she had… in his own words throughout the years he knew why they had to do this months after her death—— people like Grunge here were using her name and image for profit (now a days for views) on top f that Chris and Selena had issues… major issues — Chris knows this, your buffoons don’t ! Yes we know the narrative of how they “patched things up” but all denied there were issues in their marriage well over a decade after her death until Chris finally admitted it because many of us knew the truth and social media was getting bigger and so were the unknown “Rumors” …. Chris himself knows what he signed and why he felt that was the best to do—- aside from the fact that it was the right thing to do—- the family and Selena paid their dues since forever, not Chris … many of you who are not of the Mexican culture or new generations of Mexican descent don’t know the meaning of respect to family—- Chris did- and spare us the Abraham hated him- now that Chris said it, we know why Abraham was mad— he was having sex with Selena in the bus behind everyone’s back—- but Abraham got over it and the fact that she wasn’t his little girl anymore— he accepted him- which you feeble minded people don’t give him credit for—- the only ONLY reason Chris & them had issues is he spent so much of his “Selena money” while rarely working for 27years mind you- on drugs women and child support—- his current gf, the one he cheated on his second wife with is a mess—- she’s behind a lot of his revelations and issues— you know the one that got him to finally see the movie— and she’s trying to get her stale singing career off the ground at the same time…lastly the family and Chris know Selena had talked of leaving Chris— she even took steps to protect her assets- oh Chris knows this too, so yeah, less than three years of marriage- the last year fighting – looming divorce- not having to worry about money for 27years.
Chris did receive everything aside from the rights to her image & estate. Chris was never going to get 100% from Selena y Los Dino’s because even Selena wasn’t getting 100%. She always made 25%, same as her siblings and father. Chris did stay with Selena’s bank accounts, her boutiques, the home they lived in and the land they purchased. & also Selena’s share of 25% all these years. When Chris tried to countersue him he didn’t win because Chris could not provide bank statements before 2013, which sounds pretty sketchy. “Fans” make her family out to be greedy and cruel but the reality is that they ALL worked hard for the bands success and deserve to still be getting paid for it. Selena didn’t do it alone and she always brought that point up. It started as a family business and will always be
3:19 Abraham wouldn’t even let J-Lo sing Selena’s song. She had to lip sync in the movie. —- 3:32 from what I read and researched. This was only half true. The Quintanilla’s weren’t fully involved in the TV show. Even Abraham wasn’t fully involved. The only person that was on set during filming of the TV show was Suzie. But, in the movie, everyone (including Chris to an extent) were involved, 100%. That’s why the movie seemed more genuine and the TV show seemed like it was lacking depth.
Wow so selena was doing all the work and her father gave her 25% of her own money?! That man is a joke. He’s just as responsible for her death as Yolanda is. He may have gotten her career started but he did not have to take advantage of his own daughter! Everyone in her family was an opportunist. She would be very upset at the way her family has treated the man she loved. Karma is nothing to play with. I hope Chris takes them for everything they have !
Her dad gives me money hungry vibes. Why tf would he feel entitled to any of her money? She was married, her husband should’ve been able to keep everything of hers that he wanted. To deny him rights to his own wife’s story Is shady af. The only reason they’d do that is so that they could be the ones to profit off of her legacy and they still do to this day, every chance they get. It’s weird af and super sad for Chris. I feel like they did him wrong smh
Imo if the money went to the father, sister, brother and the husband I would say that it was fair considering were she was and were she was headed had she lived long enough hell yea her husband should’ve gotten EVERYTHING but since she was just at the cusp of superstardom and the family was apart of EVERYTHING she did up to that point I say it was the right call R.I.P. 👑 of tex mex
Its things like this that just reaffirm how i feel about him. I dont think it is the whole family cause i feel like they all bow down to the dad. My best friend is hispanic and she said thats just how it was in her culture. Not all are hardliners but those on the conservative side are she would tell me. I think the fact that he didnt want to let her live her life and control her so much was sad. RIP Selena
This is why if you watch Chris perez interviews even recently. He just talks about how happy she always was and how giving. He never really details how she was at home or when they were together because he isnt allowed 😢its so sad, i can only imagine if Selena would be able to see. Her Father Controlled her every aspect, i wonder why she didnt have security with all the fame she had and still living in her childhood neighborhood.
Rip. Selena Quintanilla. Beautiful..queen prayers your legacy of your beautiful.songs stands. Firm .behind you. Too young and too talented to die you .had your whole life ahead of you. With your husband and family. Rest your soul truly. Your an angel singing up in paradise god bless who is perusal 4 17 22. The one thing I loved about Selena and.it is perfectly depicted in the movie. She was very. Humble and down to earth I love the part when she goes in the mall. And the.ladies don’t recognize her 1rst then .a whole crowd surrounds her once
Abraham obsessively tries to control everything Selena, and her reputation because that pain drives him to do what his guilt tells him he failed to do when she was alive. Protect his little girl. Perhaps that is his way of coping with the loss. I think it is fair Her widow gets her cut of what is brought in. I do think he should be able to tell his and Selena’s story from his perspective though.
I believe her father just looked at her has dollar signs I don’t think he really I think he loved her but he looked at her more like dollar signs and her husband truly loved her I will always believe that even with whatever image her daddy trying to put you can see it in her husband’s eyes she misses her and her father is disrespecting his daughter’s death and passing by how he’s treating her husband
When you’re a moneymaking machine everybody tugs at you just because it makes you blood and Family does not mean that they have the best interest for you at the end of the day she was carrying everyone on her shoulders to me it sounds like she’s in a better place and that’s the place she needs to be her life may have been worse if she would’ve still been alive❤️🙏🏻
Selena quintanilla late husband Chris perez he remarried after that things had changed. I can see of him remarried but as far for kids. I know kids, pets is life but he should of just remarried, have no kids, wait to have kids with Selena quintanilla in heaven. She is worth waiting for in life. I think after as I speak as my opinion as my human legal rights as a officer female. When Chris got kids things changed. I read his book it was awesome. But Selena quintanilla family needs to understand Selena was legally married, has a life with Chris. When he did the book he already had the kids so it would make a difference, comment sense things changed when he got kids, not the remarried part.❤
I totally understand the dad not wanting this guy to profit off his dead daughter, and while she was alive he was protecting her as well . Who knows if she would have continue with the guy anyways, given the fact they weren’t together long before she got murdered. I don’t understand the people in the comment section going on crazy about the dad doing this . They weren’t married nor together for that long when he was widowed. Also he didn’t trusted his in laws, he just left the in-laws to do all the job so as Selena the guy was a low life lazy that was living off Selena’s money . People need to get the story right
Her dad was not shit he was real quick to worry about the money and not the fact that his own daughter was dead and the show they made on Netflix was some ahhh it didn’t show nothing new we didn’t already know about Selena and it was not even about her it was Albout him to make him self look good and about his kids we not worried about y’all we want to know about Selena and honestly I think Abraham sold his soul to the devil and she was a sacrifice for him and his family to be wealthy but this is just my opinion and if that lady would say that he send her to to kill Selena I would believe it as well how sad rip my hero
The old man couldn’t make it on his own so what did he do, put his kids to work. Selena eventually evolved into the family cash cow. That father of hers is responsible for everything that happened not directly but indirectly… Had it not been for his greed this story would’ve had a very different outcome. Notice today they are still living off the Selena name. None of them have gone on to be successfully on their own.. Poor girl carried them all..
As a USA American civilian citizen, I though that the USA president, senator’s, Congress, legislators, public defender’s, state bar of attorneys, public defender’s etc.., Would modified Life Insurance, Medical Institutions Treatment, Alternative Medicine etc.., After the tragedy case of Selena Quintanilla, Melendez Brother’s, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana of Whales etc..,
Yea because he was money hungry I remember going into his office one time just to mention that at the car show was a car painted with Selena’s face all over it and ask if we could hang something that said in memory of her and his response was for 5000 dollars I just couldn’t believe it that’s when I realized how money hungry he was so sad
I do believe her father played a part in her death . His daughter was going against his wishes and heading in a direction where he won’t be her manager & have control over her . He was going to be out of money . She also was planning on having a family that did not sit while with her father . There are a few stars I know of that their parents blood sacrifice them because they was going to lose money and yes there is proof in our face . God have mercy, you all need to wake up . I can go on but research yourself
We all saw her fathers true colors. Though she had no will, Chris Perez was her next of kin by all accounts of the law. I have heard about her dads slickness getting Chris to sign the papers for only 25% and thats only off some of the money. The family can make decisions to exploit her in 2 netflix movies and money off her music, royalties, all of her belongings . Her car, awards, clothing, records. Literally everything she had even the home she worked and paid for everyone to have. 3 million dallars is nothing compared to what he should have got. It wasnt meant to support the entire family she came from. It’s my understanding Chris turned all the money over to his children’s Mom so they would be taken care of. I believe Chris has not spent any of the money that belong to his late wife and himself. Selena, didnt put her hand on their shoulders at her funeral, only her husbands. The one she loved most in this world. That’s ok Mr Q, what goes around will come back around. You only made money off your daughter while she was alive and your still making money off her more now that she’s deceased. From the way it looks is out of greed or you wouldnt have cheated Chris out of what was rightfully his. Because when they married that was her closest next of kin. That’s like Mrs Q’s father taking everything she has and your the next of kin. Mr. Q you should know better than anyone, along with your family that God doesnt like ugly or greed!!!! Suzette had a beautiful wedding and pictures of her in her white gown.
In my honest opinion since her dad was only looking out for her best interest and was totally against her getting married to that loser Chris …he & the rest of her family rightfully deserve to get everything that she left behind from incoming finances ( from music download platforms to profits from her boutiques to any& everything that has been created either in her image or as part of her brand )
Selena’s dad did what needed to be done to protect what they all as a family worked so hard to achieve. This was a family act, each family member brought something to the table. I think 25% going to Chris is more than fair. It’s Chris’s fault the boutique got sold. He had to split assets with his ex wife.
This all I gotta say, people are gonna say whatever they want cause that’s what they do, but when it comes to this family yeah her dad handles her money which is fine because she was still in her early 20s. I don’t think he used her for money and for his money that he has now. Yes Chris should of had some part like the series and 50 percent of the money but as the parents and Chris just the husband the family had the right to get most of the stuff.
Her dad was not shit he was real quick to worry about the money and not the fact that his own daughter was dead and the show they made on Netflix was some as it didn’t show nothing new we didn’t already know about Selena and it was not even about her it was Albout him to make him self look good and about his kids we about not worried about y’all we want to know about Selena and honestly I think Abraham sold Selena sold to the devil and she was a sacrifice for him and his family to be wealthy but this is just my opinion and if that lady would say that he send her to to kill him I would believe it as well how sad rip my hero
I feel that her father and family took advantage of Chris while he was dealing with her lost Selena is tossing and turning in her grave Because her father still only for money not so much the love of a daughter and Chris should have a right to tell his story as he live it with her MR QUINTANILLA YOU MAKE ME SICK,,,
I call Bull Or Fowl! She was a adult when she died and married it should of been her husband! Love story is theirs not the fathers! When family usually not always gets involved they get greedy! And even if the person is still alive in something happens to someone they love. They already know what to expect because it’s been discussed someone use’s screws to do them over than comes up with some stupid reason why!
Hi all, Selena Quintanillas story stands as the cornerstone foundation of the present day Human Rights/Anti-Human traffickicking, forced career, and Social Justice movements in a technologically advanced society. The modern day entertainment industry in particular the music industry as well as various communication and communications media have also been largely founded by those present involved in the production of these events which stand as a most severe matter. We see here in every instance the forced nature of the career of every female artist as well as others on hand in the most physically intrusive manners; who appear in this tejano so called racially commercialized and community destroying endeavour. Which has effectively silenced the voices of entire communities and the human rights movement as a whole. This behavior has continued till present day, simultaneously we see those personally accountable for what truly is a human catastrophe for all society as a whole and brazenly promotes complicity to an already at risk population. The abusive tactics used to intimidate persons vulnerable like Selena Quintanilla highlights the need for immediate societal education. Education on forced relationships, which clearly begets the norm here, and crime free atmospheres which are needed in an advanced tech society faced with long term accountability. Even one such instance resembling what we see here such as that of Ariana Grande has been globally lambasted for offensive volatility, why is this still being allowed in global silence here.
