📹 When Two Irish Lads Meet a Newfoundlander
Thanks so much to Adam Hodder (Harbour Customs) for meeting us in Kilkenny. What an absolute pleasure to get to meet this …
It’s such a shame that people don’t know about or have forgotten the tragic story of Grace’s sister Muriel, which in some ways is as sad if not more so than Graces story and of course are events that increased the devastation and sense of loss for Grace herself and the children. Sad times indeed but a period of history the Irish people can be so proud of, times and events that still stand as a beacon of light for Irish freedom. It is their memory and deeds that keep the flame of liberty alive.
As we gather in the chapel here in old Kilmainham Gaol I think about these past few weeks, oh will they say we’ve failed? From our school days, they have told us we must yearn for liberty Yet, all I want in this dark place is to have you here with me Chorus: Oh Grace, just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger They’ll take me out at dawn and I will die With all my love, I place this wedding ring upon your finger There won’t be time to share our love for we must say goodbye Now, I know it’s hard for you, my love, to ever understand, The love I bear for these brave men, my love for this Dear land But when Pádhraic called me to his side down in the G.P.O. I had to leave my own sick bed, to him I had to go Chorus: Oh Grace, just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger They’ll take me out at dawn and I will die With all my love, I place this wedding ring upon your finger There won’t be time to share our love for we must say goodbye Now as the dawn is breaking, my heart is breaking too On this May morn, as I walk out, my thoughts will be of you And I’ll write some words upon the wall so everyone will know I love so much that all I could see his blood upon the Rose. Chorus: Oh Grace, just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger They’ll take me out at dawn and I will die With all my love, I place this wedding ring upon your finger There won’t be time to share our love for we must say goodbye
As an immensely proud Irish-American, Grace is one of my dearest songs, taught it to my children (My daughter’s middle name is Grace) as toddlers. Together as a family we traveled to Ireland and Northern Ireland and learned and walked the grounds of the GPO and Kilmainham Goal, me as a grand-child and namesake for a 1916 Uprising Survivor and my children, my son is also a namesake of his great grandfather. Fast forward to 2016 my son a Sgt. in the United States Marines Corps attended the 100th Anniversary celebration of the uprising as a member of then Vice-President Biden’s security detail, walking the street toting a gun just like his Great Grandfather that day in 1916. I still get chills when I hear this song and yes I do tear up.
Wow you have a wonderful history and as a Irish woman I’m proud of your son god bless him 🙏✌️all the way from Dublin. The USA are or where the police of the world Trump messed that up for a bit, won’t go into that hopefully the USA will be that light of democracy again but tell your son how even though I don’t know him I promise Irish people are grateful and how proud you must be of him. Oh as a little girl I did dance for the Dubliners I did Irish dancing for years and my aunt had a pub in Dublin and they would drink there this was back in the 80′ there’s nothing like Irish music it touches your heart ❤️ no matter where your from again God Bless your son 🙏

Touches me deeply 😥, goodbye the only person I’ve truly loved in this life, I am so so sorry about it all, the craziness the hurt I caused….I wish I’d met you years ago and met your parents too and you’d met my grandparents. Life is so short for regrets. I have so many regrets, I wish I’d not been so angry all those years growing up and I wish I’d grown up.

WITHER THE MERCY AND GRACE John 8:6-18 As I listen to Creflo Dollar interject the story of the woman caught in adultery, I thought about the usual female perspective question – ‘Where was the man!?’ HOLY SPIRIT showed me that possibly one of the things JESUS wrote in the dirt then was the identity of the man “caught in the very act (too)”. Maybe he was well known by everyone there! What JESUS wrote is not for us to know. The question is ‘Do we show mercy and grace to others?’ we clamor and crave it for ourselves… Who do you need to let go? Let them go and love them; even from a distance if you have to, because they continue to hurt you up close. Extend JESUS’ mercy and grace received to all and sundry.
And despite their sacrifices Ireland now engages in a naieve, irreversible social experiment imitating England which no longer gerceven has an English capital city. Not a sin gle English person thinks London is English anymore or that they wanted to loise it. Its only the start of the end that is not wanted or chosen.
