How Should You Display Family Photos?
Instead of randomly hanging family photos, consider creating a cohesive display by selecting a few frames that complement each other, allowing you to update and reminisce with memories captured over the years. A grid or gallery arrangement enhances continuity, especially when using classic silver frames. Prioritize pleasure in your photo displays, avoiding common mistakes that detract from the memories. Constructing a streamlined gallery wall can beautifully show off family photos. Explore unique photo wall ideas, such as neck-down portraits, that add artistic flair and showcase family connections.
Discover inspiring ways to highlight your family photos, varying from vintage-inspired picture rails to modern ledges. Engaging in creative arrangements enhances the overall aesthetic of your home. Whether opting for a single image or a gallery wall, it's generally more appealing to group photos in pairs or larger sets. A symmetrical grid of same-sized frames can also create visual harmony.
Consider bold methods such as incorporating colorful mats, giant prints, or eclectic galleries to ensure your family photo display is eye-catching. While it's often thought that family photos should be limited to specific areas of the home, allowing them to adorn spaces like living rooms and dining areas can add warmth and personalization. Some options include varying frame styles, showcasing polaroids or photo strips, and accenting with complementary décor like candles and plants. Overall, seek out creative and stylish ways to share and celebrate the cherished moments captured in your family photos throughout your living space.

HELP. I have updated to 2019 FTM. If I select the media icon it shows 514 files. If I hoover over it, it will show like “1860 Census for Letitia Fikes” . However the icon box for the file is white, empty. I can’t link because it shows no file found. I think what I did is linked to the Fikes folder on my desk and when I moved it the link was broken. After perusal your wonderful article I now know how to do it right. Question is…how can I fix this without deleting all 514 in media section and having to redo the work? Thanks in advance.
Another thing: Periodically I line to check for “missing media” in Family Tree Maker. Things go “missing” for a variety of reasons – I move or rename the file being the most common. If there is missing media, you can search for it manually. The best thing, I’ve found, is, when the Windows Explorer box comes up, to click in the “File name” box to first VIEW the name of the file your computer is looking for! Then I can usually find it.

It says if you UNLINK your FTM TREE from ANCESTRY Tree you can NEVER relink. I had hoped this was fixed in 2017 version. GEE WHIZ I do not need help in making mistakes…… sigh
