How To Switch The Playstation’S Family Manager?

4.0 rating based on 82 ratings

To set age rating levels for your child’s account on your PlayStation 4, follow these steps:

  1. Access Settings on your PS4.
  2. Choose Parental Controls/Family Management.
  3. Transfer administrative controls to a new Family Manager and gain full control over your PS4 family account.

On PlayStation™Network (PSN), you need to create an adult account and add child members or adult members. Once you have an adult account, add family members to become the family manager.

On PlayStation 5, you can change the family manager by signing in as the family manager and going to Settings > Parental Controls/Family Management > Family Management. You may need to re-enter your account password.

However, child accounts cannot be removed from family management when they become adults (18 in most countries). To update parental controls, play time limits, privacy settings for your child, and more, visit Family Management under Settings.

If you have a child account, you cannot change your linked parent account. You must wait until you turn 18 to stop the parental controls.

Sign in to Account Management with the family manager’s account, then select Family Management. Select an adult family member and enable Parent/Guardian. Go to Settings > Parental Controls/Family Management > Family Management.

You can check and update your parental controls, play time limits, privacy settings for your child, and more.

For example, if your son is currently the family manager, you can change it to your name to restrict the time he plays on your PlayStation.

How Do I Set Up My Family On PSN?

To set up your family on PlayStation Network (PSN), start by creating an adult account, which designates you as the family manager. The family manager has various responsibilities, including managing playtime, purchases from their wallet, and access to games and applications. To add a child to your family, sign in to Account Management, select Family Management, and choose "Set Up Now" to add a child, entering their date of birth. If needed, you can also add adult family members.

For family sharing, ensure you have a primary account. If you share a console with children, consider subscribing to PlayStation Plus to share its benefits. Child accounts, once created, can be retained until they reach adulthood (18 in most countries) but cannot be removed from families by the manager.

To set updates and restrictions, you can adjust parental controls and playtime limits through the Family Management settings. Effective management of these controls necessitates that your child completes email verification and logs into PSN. For added security, make ownership of the family management account's primary console your responsibility. Follow the guidelines for setting up child accounts, managing purchases via the family manager’s wallet, and utilizing parental features to keep your gaming environment safe. This streamlined process ensures a secure and user-friendly experience for your family on PSN.

  • Hey! I’m having problems with my ps4 account, I try to log in but it won’t work bc it says “ask the family manager to accept the privacy policy and terms of service.” But…I’ve never even had a family account- I’m 20 and I never had a problem with this until this year! I even tried logging into my ps4 account online from the website but it still doesn’t work :((

  • I was part of a family where I was the kids stepfather and we have since separated and I NEED to get the kids off of my Sony account. I am the family manager and I don’t want to make another account just to get them removed. Sony has made the process such bulls&*t! I’m just stuck with two kids accounts that I just can’t remove at all.
