This activity focuses on giving and completing tasks, with students creating a family tree and answering each other’s questions about families. Semantic topics include learning about the names of family members in Arabic language, including vocabulary like maternal/paternal aunt, uncle, and more. Students can study with Quizlet and memorize flashcards containing terms like my mother, my father, and father. Liveworksheets transforms traditional printable worksheets into self-correcting interactive exercises that students can do online and send to the teacher.

This lesson is suitable for English learners of Arabic and Arabic-speaking learners of English. There are three learning methods: French I, grade 5, and two-part lesson. In this two-part lesson, Debra Terry’s students integrate vocabulary about the family by creating an imaginary family tree. They develop more complex ideas by describing the location of family members in the Arabic language.

Vocabulary lists cover the immediate family, extended family, specific words for steps and in-laws as well as Arabic conversation and vocabulary with English translation and subtitles. A set of useful family tree templates is also available for use at school or home.

In this lesson, students will learn new words from the lesson “Family” and focus on giving and completing a task. They will be given a tree with words on the side, create their own family tree, and ask and answer questions about families. The English and Arabic family tree template is a wonderful resource for EAL learners to improve their English skills.
