4.5 rating based on 169 ratings

To add a family member to your Kaiser Permanente plan, you can use secure online tools available on kp. org123. To activate your account, you need your medical record number and email address. If you have the same address as your child or teen in the membership system, you will be granted access immediately. Alternatively, you can use a form to add or remove a dependent if you currently have Kaiser Permanente Self and Family coverage and adding or removing a dependent will not change your type of enrollment, FEHB plan, or option.

To add a dependent to your account in person, go to a Member Services office at your local Kaiser Permanente facility. You can easily add family members to a subscriber once they are enrolled. From the Members tab, find the subscriber using the search box. For larger groups, you can search for members. To set up Caregiver Access for a dependent, click on the “Set up Access” link under “Manage your family’s health”, sign on using your password and user ID, and click “Add”.

To change your Kaiser Permanente plan, fill out an Online Account Change Form to change to a different Kaiser. If you’re getting a divorce and have a health plan under your name, you can keep your health coverage. However, if you’re a dependent on your spouse’s health plan, you’ll likely lose coverage. Choose a new plan that works for you and submit proof of your event by logging into your application.

If you’ve changed plans or added coverage for a family member, select the plan you would like here. Each family member listed in Section C will be moved to the plan you select. If you’re not a member of this union and would like information on how to enroll in a Kaiser Permanente plan, click get started.

To make a change to your account, first tell us where you live: Choose your state: California, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Oregon, Virginia. You can add a caregiver by updating your Family List. If the person is a Kaiser, you can submit proof of your event by sending a message to Member Services with the subject “other”.

Does Kaiser Allow Double Coverage

Does Kaiser Allow Double Coverage?

You can enroll in the Kaiser Permanente Dual Complete Plan if you live in California and qualify for both Medicare and Medi-Cal. Dual coverage is also available if you and your spouse are employed separately with Kaiser coverage and list each other as dependents. A child can have dual coverage if covered by both parents or stepparents under different Kaiser plans. Other scenarios include being a worker with compensation while having personal coverage or veterans with VA benefits alongside their health plans.

Having two insurance plans, often referred to as double Kaiser coverage, enables secondary insurance to kick in after the primary plan pays. This helps maximize total reimbursement while avoiding overlaps. For those eligible under both Medicare and Medi-Cal, additional perks can come from Kaiser Permanente’s Dual Special Needs (D-SNP) plans, which allow for retaining Medi-Cal benefits and accessing more services. Those with double coverage are advised that benefit maximums may combine, and one insurer will serve as primary while the other serves as secondary, often covering co-pays and deductibles.

The Dual Choice PPO allows for flexibility in provider selection across Oregon, Washington, and within the network. Overall, dual coverage offers significant benefits, including reduced out-of-pocket costs and personalized care plans tailored to individual health needs.
