  4. If you can’t see the Family tab, tap Your Name and Photo, then tap Family Sharing. Select the name of the member you want to remove.
  5. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings and click Family (or Family Sharing), then click your name. Click Stop Using Family Sharing.
  6. Open the Settings app, tap Family, tap your name, and tap Stop Using Family Sharing.

What Happens If I Stop Sharing ICloud Storage With Family?

When you stop sharing iCloud storage, family members receive a grace period to access the shared storage before needing to acquire their own plan. If you are over 5GB of usage and leave a family with an iCloud+ plan, you must upgrade to your individual plan within 28 days to retain your stored data. If you stop sharing, you will lose access to shared purchases and services. The family organizer can remove members at any time or disband the group, and once Family Sharing is turned off, all members are removed from the family group simultaneously.

It’s crucial to know that any data saved on iCloud is attached to your Apple ID and remains accessible if you have enough storage. Leaving the family group does cut off access to shared services, purchases, and iCloud storage. If you wish to maintain Family Sharing but stop sharing certain features, you can disable specific options in the Photos, Calendars, or Reminders apps. Ultimately, disconnecting from Family Sharing shifts how storage is managed and access to shared benefits, which may require each member to adopt individual plans while ensuring personal data remains secure. Therefore, before disconnecting, it’s essential to consider the potential consequences for you and your family, particularly regarding data access and shared services.

To delete a file or folder from iCloud Drive, visit icloud. com/iclouddrive and sign in to your Apple Account. Select the item to delete, click in the toolbar, and confirm the deletion. Note that deleting a shared folder removes it from your device but not from the owner's or others' devices. You can access it again through the original share link, provided the owner hasn’t revoked access. If a family member is removed from Family Sharing, their iCloud backup may still occupy space. To unlink an account, sign out of iCloud on your devices, then go to Settings > iCloud, and select "Delete Account" if necessary. To manage shared albums, go to the Photos app, choose the album, and select "Delete" to unsubscribe others. If leaving an iCloud storage family plan while using over 5GB, buy your own plan within 28 days to avoid data loss. Deleting items shared by others does not remove them from the owner’s account.
