How Do I Find Unfamiliar Faces In Google Home?
To categorize unfamiliar faces in the Google Home app, access Familiar Face Detection under Nest Aware settings. If new faces are detected, select "New faces" to identify them, either confirming or rejecting their identity by tapping Yes, No, or Not a person. Detected faces are logged in recorded videos within the Home or Nest app. Upon detecting an unfamiliar face, the app prompts you to identify them, allowing you to save confirmed identities to the familiar face library.
If familiar face detection isn't functioning properly and you have a Nest Aware subscription, refer to the help article for troubleshooting. To manage stored faces, navigate to Google Home > Settings > Nest Aware > Familiar Face Detection and explore options like viewing non-human detections. How Do I Merge Faces In Google Home?
To merge faces in Google Home, start by opening the Google Home app and navigating to Settings > Nest Aware > Familiar face detection. Tap the Edit option at the top right of the screen. Select the desired faces to merge by touching and holding one, then tapping the other face. This action selects both faces, allowing you to combine them. When merging, the duplicate profile is removed from your familiar face library. Your camera will mark detected faces in recorded video within the Home or Nest app. For unfamiliar faces, the app will prompt for identification.
Merging profiles can be done in two ways: directly in the Familiar face detection section or through Google Photos. For Google Photos, click on the face thumbnail and then select "Add a name." To manage your familiar faces library, you can add, rename, or delete profiles from the Google Home app. If setting up voice matching, navigate to Settings in the Google Home app and turn on Voice Match, ensuring microphone permissions are granted.
Additionally, you can create a "family group" in the app for better recognition of household members. The article also mentions features like face morphing and Google's Best Take, which assist in selecting the best images. For help, access the General Help Center within the app.
Can A New Camera Turn On Familiar Face Detection?
A new Google Nest camera does not enable familiar face detection during setup with a Nest Aware subscription, but users can still view familiar and unfamiliar face events in the Home and Nest apps. Familiar face alerts will be sent via the Nest app. If the camera identifies a face, it will mark the activity in recorded video. For unfamiliar faces, the app will prompt the user for identification. To add a familiar face, the camera must have previously seen them. Once recognized, users should navigate to Settings > Subscriptions > Nest Aware to activate familiar face detection. Occasionally, the camera may mistakenly categorize a familiar face as new, creating duplicate profiles. Users can merge profiles by accessing the Google Home app and managing familiar face detection settings. Nest cameras sharing a home utilize a common familiar face library, so new cameras don’t need separate setup. Familiar face detection can be toggled on or off for each camera. Notifications about unfamiliar faces are promoted through ADT+, allowing users to identify and name detected individuals. Additionally, EufyCam 3 with face recognition capabilities provides notifications, although excessive alerts from known individuals may occur. This technology aids in home security by distinguishing between familiar faces, enhancing user awareness and response capabilities.

So far I am not impressed with the Nest cameras. all the fancy settings mean nothing if the camera dose not simply detect and record motion. 80% of the time if something walks past more than a few feet from the camera it won’t be detected. I am afraid I tossed $500 in the trash with these new cameras.
