Their reasoning was he doesn’t really think Trump is a racist that it’s all just shtick! Almost like when Black people are alone with one another and we call white people “honky”! He thinks Trump‘s racist comments fall in that category so he is comfortable with having voted for Trump. Several other black men that I spoke with said that they would never vote for a black woman or that they didn’t believe Kamala Harris was black that she was lying just to get the black vote. My ex-wife was and is a hard core Republican. A nice lady. She told me of a Republican discussion decades ago that the only way to wean Americans off Social Security was to convince them it was going broke and would not be there for them. But it seems their is a better way. Starve Social Security not to the point where it is bankrupt. As long as we have an economy that it not possible. But starve it enough to make voters think they could do better without it. Do most poor Americans realize that Trump’s cutting taxes on Social Security, overtime and tips cuts the amount of money in Social Security available to the future? I know many working class people who are decent people who work hard and would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. But they do not appear to understand that the world is more complex than they realize.

I’m in my 60’s taking care of my 88 year old dad with dementia in my house. Harris was going to have medicare pay for in home health care for him. I am sad that Dad may have to go into a nursing home if I cannot provide for his medical needs at some point. What will happen to social security and medicare? Medicaid would have been expanded under Harris for folks without resources. What kind of place will Dad be forced to go to? I worry for the young women who cannot get basic medical care for a miscarriage and those who have died with a dead or sure to die fetus inside of them. The firing of ALL the folks in GA that record such poor medical outcomes because of abortion bans is so very telling in that area. The people who voted for trump voted FOR all of this. Who are you? At 65 Im seriously considering canceling my Medicare because I cannot afford food. $200 a month, soon to be lowered in EBT, in Hawaii is maybe 2.5 grocery bags. We’re totally sick about the election results, as is one of my old high school friends and many, if not most, of the people in my apt building. One of my friends just left to live in Spain; she’s a little younger than I am, but she and her husband and cats left a nice apt in Washington DC because they’d had it with Trump’s America. Many of us did not get what we wanted, but neither did those who voted for 45. These are the times in which we will have to come together to achieve a country that serves all of us, not just the obscenely wealthy.
