Did The Filmmakers Assist With The Family Guy?

5.0 rating based on 30 ratings

“Family Guy” recently spoofed the story of Peter’s firing from the brewery, featuring Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, and Michael Bay. The episode, directed by Dominic Bianchi, James Purdum, and Joe Vaux, featured Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, and Mila Kunis. The Quentin Tarantino segment included elements from his Pulp Fiction films, including Peter’s original outfit and Cleveland’s. Other directors considered for parody included Nancy Meyers and Woody Allen. RJ was to be the gunman.

In Season 16, Episode 5, viewers got to see how three different Hollywood directors would handle the story if it were made into a movie. They pledged to help Peter put on his play by buying their own supplies, which they performed outside of their lighthouse home. In an epilogue, Peter would die at age 43 from chasing a Pokémon. The episode was directed by Joe Vaux, and Carrie Fisher, aka Princess Leia, voiced Angela.

Despite its success, Family Guy faced criticism for being hackneyed and lazy in its early years. The show hasn’t had a decent moment in 20 years, and fans have been disappointed with the lack of decent moments in the show. The episode also featured some consideration of making the Michael Bay segment a stand-alone episode.

The trillogy episodes of Family Guy get better and better, but they didn’t do a Coen Brothers, Zucker Brothers, Woody Allen, or Mel Brooks versions. MacFarlane redesigned the films’ protagonist, Larry, and his dog, Steve, and renamed them Peter and Brian. He pitched a seven-minute pilot, but the segments are not actually directed by any of the directors mentioned but instead made in that director’s style.
