Can My Friends Sign Up For A Family Spotify Plan?

4.5 rating based on 193 ratings

Spotify’s Premium Family plan allows up to six family members living at the same address to enjoy ad-free music, offline. Each member gets their own Premium account, allowing them to play their own music whenever they want. However, it is not possible to have a family plan with members outside of your home. To get around this, you can have everyone that wants to be on the plan join the website from your address using one central link. The only thing that family plan affects is whether the user has premium, and they would be able to see your public playlists and if you have your privacy settings to show your listening activity.

To start a Premium Family plan, follow the steps in this support article and invite the other members. You can only pay $19. 99 a month for up to six Premium accounts. If you can’t get members on the plan, refer to the Can’t join Family plan section.

Members can join a Family plan once the manager has sent them an invite, and to accept the invite, you must live at the same address as the plan manager. When adding new members to your Spotify Family plan, you can invite existing Spotify Free users, so they don’t need to lose their existing playlists and saved songs.

You can only join a Spotify Family Plan after the plan manager creates it. To join one, contact the plan manager to share the invite link to join the Family Plan.

The person who purchases a Family plan will receive a single bill of $19. 99 every month. To join an existing Premium for Family plan, you need to reside at the same physical address as the plan’s owner (the person who subscribed to the plan). Member-accounts can change between Family plans only once a year.

If your close friend resides at the same address as you, you may be able to subscribe to Premium Duo, a plan for two people living together.

Who Should Join The Spotify Family Group?

Spotify Family Plan is ideal for music-loving families, allowing up to six separate accounts for one monthly fee of $19. 99. The plan includes the account owner and five members, all of whom must live at the same address. To join, invitees must receive an invitation from the Family account manager, and they can't use the Premium subscription until the invitation is accepted. Once registered, family members enjoy personalized playlists, recommendations, and privacy settings for their listening activity.

Each member of the Family Plan has an individual Spotify account, ensuring that everyone can access their favorite music uninterrupted. Family members can only switch plans once every 12 months, and they must log into their Spotify accounts to join. The plan is designed for families living together but can offer discounts for friends if they share a residence.

Additionally, Spotify Kids provides tailored music experiences for children. To set up a Family Plan, at least one member must be at least 18 years old, and all participants need to create their own Spotify accounts before joining. All communication about the plan, including invitations, occurs through email or messaging platforms, ensuring streamlined access for everyone involved.

How Do I Invite New Members To My Spotify Family Plan?

If you're a Spotify Family Plan subscriber, you can invite up to five other family members living at the same address to join your account. By following these steps, you can easily set up your family plan and enjoy music together.

Does Spotify Charge Members If They Join

Does Spotify Charge Members If They Join?

Spotify only charges the plan manager for the Premium Family plan, never the invited members. If unexpected charges occur, users should consult the guide for identifying additional accounts. The plan manager pays a fixed monthly fee, regardless of member participation. There’s no need to cancel a personal Premium account before joining a family plan, as charges will apply only to the plan manager. Payments for a Premium account are billed monthly, automatically occurring on a designated date based on the initial payment method chosen.

The Premium Family plan allows up to six family members living together to enjoy a cheaper alternative to individual accounts. As of June 2024, the individual subscription costs $12 per month, whereas student plans are discounted to $5. 99. The family plan is priced at $19. 99 per month for six accounts. Spotify Kids is also available within this pricing structure.

If members still see charges for individual accounts while on a family plan, it indicates potential double billing. Users should check their subscription settings to avoid this. Families can enjoy specially curated playlists like "Family Mix." Any confusion regarding charges can be clarified through the Spotify guide, ensuring all members under the same address can access the benefits without incurring extra fees.
